Re: Patsy Walker 122-124

I'll add that the issues of Patsy and Hedy around that time distinctly have issue-to-issue continuity that goes back and forth with Patsy Walker! P&H 95 (1-17:2): Patsy wants to be class valedictorian; Buzz hasn't picked a career yet. Nan Brown is chosen as valedictorian. PW 115 (1-16): Buzz tells P...

Martin Goodman in TOS 50/2

Martin Goodman--unnamed, but it's definitely him--puts in an appearance in the second story in Tales of Suspense #50. So does Larry Lieber, who is named! (Does Lieber have any other on-panel appearances? Aside from the ambulance driver's confederate in PPTSSM 54, who looks like him, shares his name ...

CX placement changes per X-Men Classic Omnibus

The new X-Men Classic Omnibus has a number of editorial statements about where, exactly, the backup stories in Classic X-Men #1-44 fit... a few of which are slightly different from what the MCP indicates currently. CX 5/2 is "between X-Men #97-98." (It's currently in the middle of X 94.) CX 7/2 is "...

Re: M/TA in the key

Marvel Triple Action #45 has three pages of new art (recapping Avengers #52 and X-Men #44, but not really adding anything to the story). That bit is also reprinted in the new X-Men Classic Omnibus!

Re: Flashbacks in X-Men: Grand Design #1

Yeah. It's really entertaining and VERY cleverly done, but I don't think it's even meant to be canon--it's just an exercise in nudging all the pieces into what would have been a more elegant form. (Which is a pity, because some of its ideas could still be implemented if someone wanted to: as Paul O'...

Re: Who's read it all?

I read 'em however I can. Original newsprint is my preferred format for the most part, especially for '60s-'70s stuff, but I've read them in just about every extant format. (For mid-'80s-to-late-'90s material, I definitely prefer later reprints or Unlimited, just for the sake of legibility.) Probabl...

Re: Who's read it all?

...We may have different definitions of "reasonably." Kull could (and did) show up in one of Peter's comics, but not vice versa; same goes for Invincible. (Time travel and IP-ownership travel seem like special situations that don't fall under "reasonably," i.e. "without special dispensation," even t...

Re: Who's read it all?

Why only the comics and not also the other 616-canon stories post-1961? ...Because one has to draw a line somewhere? (Curious what else you include in that, though: the prose novels & a few short story collections, but what else?) Edit: Speaking just of comics, are you including literally all of th...

Who's read it all?

To let the cat out of the bag a bit, I'm working on a book about reading all the in-canon Marvel-universe comics, 1961-present--I'm 90+% of the way through--and I'm trying to track down and talk to anyone else I can find who's read all of them. I imagine that at least some of the contributors to the...

Re: what are your Marvel firsts?

Pretty sure the first Marvel comic I bought (off a newsstand) was Uncanny X-Men #138. Boy, did I spend a lot of that month poring over the massive amounts of text in that issue.

My next-door neighbor had a bunch of Frank Miller Daredevils and some Moon Knights around that time, I recall.

A Spider-Man note circa Grim Hunt/Black Cat

The MCP currently has: BCAT2 1 BCAT2 2 ASM 634 ASM 635 ASM 636-FB ASM 636 ASM 637 (1 - 2) BCAT2 3 ASM 637 (3 - 31) BCAT2 4 But BCAT2 1-3 and 4 (1-17) all have to happen (very) shortly before "The Grim Hunt" (ASM 634-637) starts: Sergei Kravinoff's not back yet, and Aly has not yet been transformed i...

Re: INFINITY to ORIGINAL SIN

A question on Secret Avengers v2 (and forgive me if this has been covered): Currently, we've got SECA2 1-8 between AvX and Infinity, 9 apparently unaccounted for, 10-11 during Infinity, and 12-16 between Infinity and Original Sin. But #12 picks up immediately after #8 leaves off. In the course of #3...

Re: Generations: The Iron-Iron Man/Ironheart v1 #1

It’s worth noting that Generations: Captain America suggests that the characters who went through the “vanishing point” weren’t actually time-displaced: their experiences were an illusion created for them by Kobik, rather than part of history. (On the other hand, Odin’s scenes in Generations: Thor d...
