Re: Golden Age Young Allies

...does the 70th anniversary one-shot even have to be Earth-616 canon? If I see an obscure one-shot comic trying to toss a whole bunch of other books out of continuity, I generally suspect the obscure one-shot to be the one that's non-canon. -Jeph! That is true-- as far as I know, neither version o...

Re: Golden Age Young Allies

But we do know for sure otherwise! The Young Allies 70th Anniversary Special says that those stories didn't take place and that most of those characters didn't exist. According to the Special, the "real" Young Allies (other than Bucky and Toro) were Pat O'Toole, Geoff Vandergill, Henry Tin...

Golden Age Young Allies

I noticed that some Golden Age characters have the Young Allies series in their chronologies. Wasn't this written out of canon by the 70th Anniversary Special? The Golden Age series was published within the Marvel Universe and based on the adventures of the "real" Young Allies, who differe...

Re: All Select Comics #1 (Human Torch story only)

Got it. I did individual stories because those Golden Age anthologies had several unrelated stories about different characters (not all of them canonical), but I'll stick to Golden Age issues I can analyze in full.

Re: All Select Comics #1 (Human Torch story only)

Hey, is there a reason why my analyses for this and for All Select #2 haven't been included?

If I'm doing something wrong, let me know. I'd like to help add a lot more Golden Age comics.

Which retconned Golden Age Captain Americas are canon?

This has been brought up on this board before, but I don't think it's ever been resolved. As we probably all know, Captain America and Bucky were retconned so that, from about 1945 through the '50s, they were not Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. But of course, they were still referred to by those name...

early Namor/Human Torch meetings

Right now, the chronologies for Namor and the Torch list Human Torch #3 and #5a taking place before Marvel Mystery Comics #17. Unless I'm missing something, it should be the other way around. Their only previous Golden Age meeting was their first battle. In Marvel #17, they're antagonists who grudgi...

Re: Captain America: Patriot 1-4

For the parts that are concurrent with Captain America Comics #66... don't they contradict it (and supersede it)? I don't have them in front of me right now, but I think they play out very differently. For instance, I think Cap reveals his identity to Betty Ross in #66, while in Patriot, she's known...

problem with Toro chronology

In Toro/Tom Raymond's chronology, there is a listing for Human Torch #1 (as there also was in the Torch's own chronology). This issue does not exist. It's given as Toro's first appearance; that's actually Human Torch #2. Note that it wouldn't be correct to just change the listing from HT 1 to HT 2, ...

Re: Human Torch/Namor in Marvel Mystery Comics 8

OK, then here's what I've got. This is my first time analyzing a comic, so I hope I did it right. The Namor solo portion is: MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS 8 (1 - 8) The Human Torch solo portion is: MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS 8/2 (1 - 11:6) The combined portion is: MARVEL MYSTERY COMICS 8 (9:1) MARVEL MYSTERY COM...

Human Torch/Namor in Marvel Mystery Comics 8

The listing for Marvel Mystery Comics #8 is incorrect for both the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner. It has the first two stories taking place back-to-back. These stories actually take place simultaneously, and the final pages of each story are synchronous, showing the characters' initial battle firs...

error with the original Human Torch

The Golden Age Human Torch's chronology includes Human Torch #1. That's a problem, because there's no such comic. The Human Torch series began with #2. People do sometimes refer to #2 as #1 due to an irregularity: there were two #5s (commonly called #5a and #5b), so I've seen #2-5a listed as #1-4. B...
