Re: Squadron Sinister #1-4

Interesting that all those DC character items appear. I wonder if maybe Battleworld had included an alternate version of Earth-7642 (Earth-Crossover) or one of the other Earths that also contained DC characters (e.g., Not Brand Ecch, or Pow! Biff! Pops!) and the Squadron killed them and kept their i...

Strange Combat Tales #1-4 and Amazing High Adventure #1

This is an obscure series from the 90s. Most stories published under the "Epic" banner aren't 616, but the handbooks have referenced this series, so it's among the few Epic stories that are 616. I hope I've gotten the formatting correctly below. STRANGE COMBAT TALES #1 (Oct 1993) By Rob Stofega and ...

Re: An oddly named ASM “mini” from the early ’90s

Sweet! I'm glad to see some of these promotional books being covered. A number of others have been confirmed to be 616 by the handbooks. Do you plan to cover more of them?

Re: Cover Appearances

Interesting. I wasn't familiar with the idea of a coververse. In any case, MCP's listing for Hercules should at least be updated to include his full name, which is Varen David.

Re: Cover Appearances

Well, there's nothing confusing about the handbook entry. It just says that Hercules once rescued FDR from being hit by a train, just as is depicted on the cover of Mystic Comics #4. The Hercules story inside that issue is a different story, so the handbook references both incidents. Since the handb...

Cover Appearances

Is it the MCP's policy to ignore character appearances on covers when the covers depict a story that isn't actually in the issue? I was prompted to ask when I noticed that the handbook entry for Hercules (Varen David) includes the events from the cover of Mystic Comics #4, even though the Hercules s...

Skagg in JLA/Avengers 4

The Thor Index mistakenly says that Skagg's only appearance is in Journey into Mystery #104. But that's not true, since he also appears in JLA/Avengers #4. MCP is also missing this appearance.

Re: Willie Lumpkin in LLIZZIE 5?

No one can explain this Lizzie story being included? Someone here had to make the decision to include it in Willie's chronology, right?

Re: Moon Knight in Japan

Man, I really wish Marvel would publish English translations of these obscure Japanese stories (Moon Knight, Hulk, a few Spider-Man stories that still haven't been translated, X-Men).

Re: Moon Knight in Japan

I'd like to know more about it, too. Marvel did allow the Spider-Man and Hulk mangas back in the 70s, so it's not crazy to think there could have been a Moon Knight manga, too, but I'd want assurances it's not just an obscure self-published fan fic.

Willie Lumpkin in LLIZZIE 5?

MCP lists Willie Lumpkin as appearing in Little Lizzie #5. There is a Mr. Lumpkin that appears, but it wasn't clear to me that this is the same character. Stan apparently liked the name "Lumpkin," so how do we know that this isn't just someone else with the same last name (or a relative of Willie)? ...

Re: Earth-7642/Earth-Crossover Chronology

They've also said that the appearances of Mantis in issues of Justice League of America and Scorpio Rose are the 616 Mantis who was dimension-hopping at the time. Does it explicitly state the words "Justice League of America", "Aquaman", "Atom" (Ray Palmer), "Elongated Man" or "The Construct" (Ditt...

Re: Earth-7642/Earth-Crossover Chronology

Rather, I'm arguing that Punisher/Archie is 616 because Marvel says it's 616. The basis of your argument to convince us to break policy (that crossover stories must show crossover universes) involves breaking another policy first (that Marvel doesn't tell us that stories are canon). Again, I haven'...

Re: Earth-7642/Earth-Crossover Chronology

We have plenty of other precedent for Marvel officially declaring that stories they can't legally reprint are 616. For example, they've said that DC vs. Marvel and JLA/Avengers are 616. Which was made clear AT THE TIME (i.e., in mutual arrangement with DC) in both cases. Hell, Busiek even reference...
