Re: Avengers Academy v1 #24-FB

I think we have little choice but to put Captain Britain's costume down to an art error, and assume that he was in his new costume in Rom. Presumably Captain America simply didn't see him in the new costume, during what was, after all, a massive melee featuring hundreds of heroes. This also means we...

Re: Avengers Academy v1 #24-FB

Captain Britain was also in an old costume, in his case one he had stopped wearing several years earlier, and one which no longer existed (it had been transformed into his new costume, so not even the "current costume is in the wash, had to wear my old one" excuse). It's a fight involving shapeshift...

Re: Avengers 1959

Thanks, So I guess Count Von Blitzkrieg and the others are from past comics. Not necessarily. Some were, some were not, at least as far as I can tell. I'll search for their names. It's likely the writer took characters from a reference work, like a handbook. Is there one that lists Nazis? The handb...

Re: Immortal Weapons 1

Leoparis wrote:The scientific/occult organization called the Shield or the project SHIELD mentioned by Loki are good escape clauses to explain mentions of SHIELD during the Cold War. Stern and Byrne probably did it on purpose too.
Very probably.

Re: Immortal Weapons 1

Whether or not SHIELD predates the modern era varies Depending on the Writer- what's always been consistent is that Nick's tenure with SHIELD started after the FF's first encounter with the Hate Monger, and that's the problem in this instance. Despite some writers not realising how recently it was ...

Re: Immortal Weapons 1

A lot of writers don't get that SHIELD doesn't predate the modern era. Best to either take it that references to SHIELD should actually be the CIA, or else that it refers to Project: SHIELD, whereby agencies from different countries worked in joint operations together as a precursor to the actual fo...

Re: MAX Universe

Though we know the myth that 616 comes from FF #1 being released in June 1961, e.g. (19)61 6(th month), is bunkum (it wasn't and Moore just picked a random number anyway) Or someone else picked the number before Moore started writing Captain Britain- Comic Book Urban Legends discussed this just thi...

Re: MAX Universe

Where do you get 200111 from? The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe names several alternate realities, this being one of them. Thank you. I don't know how the handbook would come up with that number, except that the MAX series started in 2001, and they only wanted to do 11 different ones? Fi...

Re: Dire Wraith in Fear Itself

Impressive and thanks for the quick assist! :D In the issues following #8 more characters of the new DOA appear. Are these also named in the handbook pages of the hardcover? Here are a few. Various 10 .jpg Various 10.jpg Troll 11.jpg Not as far as I can tell, though I'm checking with the entry writ...

Re: Dire Wraith in Fear Itself

Thanks again Loki, it's indeed frustrating. Maybe I'm gonna drop an email to Marvel, probably to no avail. Or step away from buying single issues and only do TPB and HC? If you do drop an e-mail, please suggest they publish these entries in handbooks too, rather than not include them in the TPBs an...

Re: S.H.I.E.L.D. volume 1 & 2

Adding to what Wolframbane said: Nostradmus appears in fb in Avengers #210, '81, prior to his SHIELD #4, '10 fb. Leonardo Da Vinci apparently appears in the Cyclops story in MCP #21, '89, though I'm going from online info as I don't have the issue to hand, so I can't say as to what capacity (actual ...

Re: Dire Wraith in Fear Itself

Thanks Loki, that's the one... Do you know how you can obtain this handbook section of DOA (without having to buy the HC)? At the moment the only way is to buy the HC. There's always a possibility that Marvel might eventually collect together handbook entries that have appeared in various places si...

Re: Dire Wraith in Fear Itself

Excellent, thanks. That figures, I don't have the harcover, just the issues. Is the DOA character with all the insects also named in the DOA handbook section? Or all the other villains/demons that appear? Not sure which one you mean when you say the one with all the insects, unless you mean the Hos...

Re: Dire Wraith in Fear Itself

The name was given in the scripts, and revealed in the DOA handbook profile included in the Fear Itself: The Fearless hardcover.
