John Duffy

Hi guys, I'm working on a writing project about the early days of Marvel, and I was looking into John Duffy, the letterer. For a guy who worked on several of Marvel's most important early superhero books (FF #2, ASM #1-3), there's not much out there on the internet about the guy's life. I figured th...

Re: Wolverine #304 - who's the fat guy?

My initial thought was that this guy is the Slug, but looking back I see that he wasn't bald.

Re: How many people has Rogue touched?

Rogue was very heavily involved with Gambit during X-Treme X-Men, to the point where they lived in the same house. It seems very unlikely that that's when she and the Sentry had their fling.

Re: A few last X-stories to shovel into the Index...

Another possibility is between the Eve of Destruction crossover and the start of the Morrison/Casey era - if we assume that some characters adopted the black leather look before others.

Re: Some early Hulk flashbacks

Hi Michel,

Your stuff looks a lot more extensive than mine. I'm going to check it out in the next few days, and I'll report back here with my results.

Re: Some early Hulk flashbacks

Okay, here are things in more detail. First up, from IH #2 we have the two flashbacks listed above. IH #2 p3pan6 FB: A doctor examines Banner. Happens between p4 and p5 of IH #1. Rick Jones, Bruce Banner, and the doctor appear. IH #2 p4pan2 and pan3 FB: Rick voices his commitment to Banner. Happens ...

Some early Hulk flashbacks

While indexing Incredible Hulk #2, I found a few flashbacks that could be considered new material. So far as I know, they don't seem to be in the MCP. The first is on page 3 panel 6 (of IH #2). It shows a doctor examining Bruce Banner, who is lying on a table. This happens after Bruce wakes up from ...

Re: One Moment in Time

Then what about the "One More Day" arc itself? Did it happen or didn't it? Up to a point. I figured that the Mephisto deal stuff happened in the timeline before things were rewritten. The scenes shown in One Moment in Time are the ones considered by Marvel as canon right now, so they take precedence.

Re: One Moment in Time

Is it really that big a problem? I just figured that the stuff that happens around One More Day (May's shooting and recovery, Peter's break-up with MJ, etc.) slots in between ASM #544 and 545. The flashbacks to the failed wedding overwrite what we originally saw in ASM Annual 21. Nothing else is cha...

You could also check out this site: http://www.dcindexes.com/marvel/ It has a feature where you can type in a date and get a cover gallery of everything released at that time. It also has a downloadable spreadsheet which includes everything, and can be sorted by cover date and release date. It's com...

Re: How "gospel" is the Marvel Saga timeline?

Yeah, as I mentioned in my opening post, I've found a couple of places in the "Year One" period where M/SAGA and the MCP differ. For one: M/SAGA has UX 7 coming before ASM@ 1 (with TOS 58 sandwiched between), yet all of the founding X-Men chronologies have those two issues reversed in order (booken...

Re: New Marvels on October 14

The whole appeal of Forever for me is that Claremont can go about his business without having to worry about what's going on in other titles. I would also be pretty certain that when and if he does get around to using the FF and the Avengers, he'll use them as he sees fit, not necessarily in line wi...

Re: FB-FB in ASM 605

The context of the scene seemed to me to be placing it as the explanation of what happened when MJ left Peter. If that's the case (and my Spider-Man knowledge is pretty patchy, I'll admit) it probably happens fairly recently, like just before Brand New Day. Although, is that how Spidey's continuity ...

So, with the older issues, are extras like the letter pages and Bullpen Bulletins included?
