Macendale Hobgoblin as Cyborg question

http://www.marvel.com/universe/Hobgoblin_(Jason_Macendale) http://www.stomptokyo.com/img-m6/supaidaaman-b.jpg compare the two images. The one from the link on the right comes from the Japanese TV show from the 1970's, before the Hobgoblin got introduced. Did the artist do the later revamp of the Hob...

Re: Age of the Sentry #1

Actually, the plot point introducing Sentry resembles that of another DC character Triumph, another "forgotten" adventurer.

Re: Spider-Man: With Great Power... 1-5

The Miracle Man had metahuman hypnotic abilities, therefore the discrepancy in the entity's appearance could refer to that (the Miracle Man's illusion). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_Man#cite_ref-2 FF I#138 has the Torch give a conflicting recap of the first Miracle Man encounter. However thi...

Re: Spider-Man: With Great Power... 1-5

I refer you to Marvel Saga, which had a section called Continuity Corner on the back page which related events in unrelated series to each other. Marvel Saga#2-3, as I recall, covered the Miracle Man's debut, and presented the famed spider bit as happening just around then. (Of course, Continuity Co...

Re: Spider-Man: With Great Power... 1-5

I get the sinking feeling that the writer's FF research stopped at looking at the cover to FF I#1, without realizing they worked out of Central City then and the cover did not accurately reflect the inside story.

Re: Orson Randall and the Green Mist of Death

The recent hardcover Handbook notes this recent story in the Frankenstein Monster entry, but makes no attempt to fit it in with the established Earth-616 family tree of the Frankensteins. The mention of the story appears in a note en passant referring to various Frankenstein stories I dredged up fro...

Re: Public Domain characters in the MU

"This list would necessarily exclude characters who are considered Public Domain in exclusion of the comics (like Sherlock Holmes or Dracula or Tarzan or Doc Savage or Conan)". Actually, I doubt that Tarzan or Conan or Doc Savage reside in the public domain. A bunch of fansites had zip fil...

Re: Major John Richards

Other than that, a similar case, oddly enough also involving the FF, but not WII: Idi Amin's MTIO appearances got attributed to Eda Arul from War Machine in the FF Encyclopedia and possibly elsewhere. Idi Amin served as dictator of Uganda in the 1970's. During that time, a fictional depiction of him...

Re: Major John Richards

"My personal preference is to consider that the Marvel Universe has "reset" periodically over the years. Anytime we get a major cosmic entity interfering, or a mutant going reality-crazy, we get a "new" 616 reality that looks a lot like the previous one only Franklin Richard...

Re: Public Domain characters in the MU

Correction of earlier statement in thread: it appears that the Heap does indeed reside in the public domain, though conflicting reports exist. (wikipedia as opposed to Don Markstein)

The Rex Fury Ghost Rider got mentioned in Nick Fury's Handbook entry.

Re: Public Domain characters in the MU

This is a dubious entry for many reasons, but I might as well get this out: In Avengers I#92, Rick Jones recalls series that he read when younger. He notes that some of the protagonists of these series turned out to have historically existed on Earth-616 (Captain America, the Human Torch, and Namor ...

Re: World Trade Center and 9/11

I refer you to the book Marvel Comics Guide to New York by Peter Sanderson. He gives a list of various MVL stories by their location in specific areas of New York. He has a chapter on the World Trade Center.
