Re: When did Angel Salvadore start using "Angel" as a codena

D'oh. Angel's status as an Examplars member was backstory provided to the Handbooks by "New X-Men" writers Nunzio DeFillipis and Christina Weir. It never made it into their comics, but if they had continued writing the title they would have revealed Angel as a member of that team. So there...

Re: When did Angel Salvadore start using "Angel" as a codena

Well, let's put it this way. The Handbooks (specifically, the hardcovers' Tempest and Xavier Institute entries) claim that "Angel" was at one point her actual codename. I am presuming that to be true, and now looking for in-book evidence to support it. As you say, codenames weren't mandato...

Re: When did Angel Salvadore start using "Angel" as a codena

I paged through the New X-Men Omnibus and didn't find anything, but I've got two thoughts: either in New X-Men #131, where she's part of Archangel's flight class, or New X-Men #135, where she's part of the Special Class. Before this, she wasn't really a *student* yet, she was a new arrival. In #131,...

When did Angel Salvadore start using "Angel" as a codename?

Here's a headscratcher: apparently, at some point fly-winged mutant Angel Salvadore started using her first name as her codename: she became "Angel."

I need to find the issue where she first started doing this. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Shadowcat

I had this discussion with Shadowcat fan Mike O'Sullivan when I was wrapping up the Wolverine Index. Here are his comments: Okay -- started with Excalibur #125 and flipped through everything until the end of X-Treme X-Men. After X-Men #100 (when she left the team), she's regularly referred to by edi...

Do you also feel like including all of Al Milgrom's "Editori-Al" cartoons from the inside covers of Marvel Fanfare issues? ;) IMO, the Byrne piece is just about as "canon" as those -- it's an editor's note presented in cartoon form instead of text.

Re: Some Stories Missing from MCP

I'm particularly interested in why Professor Xavier and the X-Men has been deemed non-canon. Well, 17 of the 18 issues are just modern retellings of old stories. And the one issue that IS a new story (#4) conflicts with other accounts of how the Brotherhood formed. Presumably #4 is in the same &quo...

M/TU 96 and Beverly Switzler

We list Beverly Switzler as appearing in M/TU #96. I don't see her. Is this an error?

Re: Wolverine's recent chronology

No such thing as #24.1. It's just #24.

(The cover calls it "#24.NOW", which is probably what you're thinking of -- but it's #24 in the indicia, IIRC.)

Re: ULTRAF/SM 1A = ULTRAF/SM 1B

Hmm, according to the publication-date database at Mike's Amazing World of Comics, both #1A and #1B came out the same day -- January 9, 1996. So yeah, looks like those would be simultaneous scenes after all...

Re: ULTRAF/SM 1A = ULTRAF/AM 1B

Did the issues come out on the same day?

If not, wouldn't #1A be the "main" version of the events on the duplicated pages, and #1B be treated as a reprint with new story pages?

Jeez, I was under the impression that this sucker was non-canon. You're saying it can fit?

Re: Deadpool vs. X-Force v1 #1

Cable makes some offhand remark that everyone will need to have their memories erased at the end of this mission. Presumably he recruited Warpath and Domino specifically for this mission -- then wiped their memories at the end of it -- then recruited them again later in NM #98-99. Clunky, but hey. T...

Re: First X-Men #1-5

Don't you get it, Fury? He planted the sign ... then dug the sign up again and went on vacation for years. IT WAS SYMBOLIC YOU SEE. Really, how you can continue to be so glaringly wrong about this is beyond me. I'm of the firm belief that the author's intent, was to have these events take place not ...

Re: First X-Men #1-5

Glaringly wrong, Col. Fury. Glaringly wrong, if only you'd read the issue and see what's visibly shown. (Though, in fairness to Jason, UXM #309 does state that Amelia helps Charles make lists of mutants to offer training to, though she's opposed to his plan of actually gathering them under one roof....
