Marvel Chronology Project

For the most part, the MCP is caught up to Utopia/Exodus, the Uncanny X-Men/Dark Avengers crossover. I’d like to build a reference spine from Utopia to the Siege crossover, so we can build character chronologies from it.

Looking at chronologies we already have from the recent Index series (mainly Wolverine and Spider-Man with some others), we already know this:

What else takes place after Utopia and before the Siege crossover? And when?

Once we’ve nailed this down, we’ll move on to the Siege crossover.

Mighty Avengers 32-34 take place shortly after Realm of Kings: Inhumans #2 and before Assault on New Olympus. (Is Realm of Kings otherwise synched up with this stuff?)

Dark Wolverine #80 is pre-Siege, too.

If I recall correctly, there has to be a gap somewhere in Mighty Avengers to accommodate the rest of the Marvel universe. I'll flip back through those issues and see what I can find for passing-of-time references or whatnot.

Necrosha happens, which involves New Mutants and X-Men Legacy in addition to X-Force. Though that my be covered by the X-Force entry in the list.


This is somewhat related, but does anyone else visit Uncannyxmen.net? They have an entire database of X-Men issue summaries with character appearances. Do you all think this could be an opportunity for collaboration to get issue summaries for recent X-Related books so they can be added to the project faster?

Avengers: the Initiative #26-30?

A:I 28-30 (and also the first 16 pages of A:I 31) happen early in this span. In this arc, Osborn is looking to fill vacant spots in the Cabal (A:I 31), so it's after Exodus. There's a reference (A:I 29) to dead criminals pursuing Punisher, so the arc is after PUN8 10. The reference (A:I 30) to the new Sorcerer Supreme puts the arc after NA 54. Loki is in his male form in this arc (A:I 31), so it's after T 601. Hood is de-powered in A:I 28-30, so the arc occurs before NA 55.

Black Panther v5 #7-12?

The bulk of this arc occurs "days" before DOOMWAR. BP5 7 (1-13) is a week before BP5 7 (4-22), which is a month after BP5 6. BP5 8-10 occur "days" after BP5 7 (4-22). BP5 11-12 may occur the next day, and those last two issues occur "days" before DOOMWAR begins.

Dark Avengers: Ares #1-3?

I have this mini sometime between DARKA 12 and Secret Warriors 10.

Dark Wolverine #76-79?

DARKW 78-79 lead into DARKW 80.

DARW 76-77 follow right from DARKW 75. This arc occurs after DR:FF 5, and I have Noh-Varr in DARKW 76 before DARKA 5, so this would all be before Utopia.

Fantastic Four #575-???

Each issue in FF 575-579 can stand alone and FF 580-581 occur on the same night. There can be gaps between them, and none of these issues tie in tightly with other comics. They might all occur after Siege.

You do have FF 574 in the Utopia-to-Siege chronology, and FF 570-573, which take about two weeks, lead into FF 574.

The Fall of the Hulks/World War Hulk arc includes the following, though not in this specific order:

Then World War Hulks 1 occurs between this arc and Siege.

Mighty Avengers #32-34?

MA 32-33 occur before NA 55-60. MA 34 between CA:REBORN 6 and HERC 129.

HERC 129-131 is a one-day arc.
HERC 132, 134, 136 is a two-day arc.
HERC 133, 135, 137 is a one-day arc.

These are all before Assault on New Olympus.

It looks like for the most part, this is the majority of what we’re looking for. There are some odds and ends not included, like the first few issues of New Mutants v3, or possibly some issues of X-Factor v3, or the cosmic books, but those stick to their own corners of the universe, for the most part.

According to the Avengers Index, Razor-Fist appears in A:I 29 between NA 57 and NA 60, which I admit, looks a little odd. Daron, I believe when you audited the Avengers Index, you said to place Razor-Fist in A:I 29 after NA 60 (although I may have mis-transcribed). I've temporarily moved it to reflect the Index.

So. Which is correct for A:I 29? Before NA 55? Before NA 60? After NA 60?

A:I 28-30 has to occur before NA 55 (or at least the section of NA 55 that happens after UTOPIA) for the Hood, so A:I 29 is before NA 55 for everybody.

This implies that there's a break between pages of DPOOL4 19. While it's possible to insert a break, I don't see the need for it. I'm more comfortable beginning this listing with DPOOL4 16-18.

This chronology leaves A:I in the middle of issue 31, while Paul's Siege chronology picks up with issue 32. Where would we place the end of A:I 31, which appears to lead into SIEGE?
