Frank Drake in TOD3

Post by lettsmonster »

Frank Drake is currently listed as appearing only in TOD3 1 when in fact he appears in all four issues of this mini-series.

Suggested additions:

DRAKE, FRANKLIN +/-

TOD3 1-FB-BTS
TOD3 1-FB
TOD3 1
*TOD3 2 (add)
*TOD3 3 (add)
*TOD3 4 (add)
NS 1
GR3 31

Also, a question. Does anyone know why Marv Wolfman brought Dracula back from the dead twice in the same manner from the same spot?

In TOD 70, Quincy Harker plunged a silver stake into Dracula's heart, temporarily killing him. Wolfman brought Dracula back twice from this same spot, with a different person removing the silver stake, in TOD2 1 and TOD3 1, basically ignoring every Dracula appearance between these two issues.

Just wondering if someone could lead me to any discussion about this. Thanks!

The in-story explanation is that it was the work of the demon Asmodeus:

But yeah, it's still odd that Wolfman chose to do it that way.

The real-life explanation is that TOD3 was intended to be a continuation of TOD1 that ignored everything else done since (including, apparently, TOD2). It was Wolfman's own private sandbox, outside Earth-616 canon.

In recent years, the handbook writers have worked hard to bring it into Earth-616. I'm not sure why...

Actually, the Nightstalkers series kind of referenced TOD3 (although those references weren't explicit and could be referring to an untold story), and that's probably why the handbooks have worked hard to explain TOD3 as canon. Still, I wish they would have left it out.
