Stick in W2 113-FB?

I had a question about Stick's chronology. He is listed as appearing in DD 349-350 and W2 100 & 105, after his apparent death in DD 190. This never seems to be explained anywhere, so I assume it is left a bit ambiguous whether this is the 'real' Stick, some illusion, some demonic entity posing as Stick, or perhaps Stick's spirit or ghost.

Curious about this, I took a look at W2 113, where Stick is listed as having his first chronological appearance in a flashback. However, the flashback referred to occurs in Shanghai "a long time ago" and appears to involve Wolverine's introduction to his old teacher, Ogun (although I don't think Ogun himself actually appears). In that same flashback, Wolverine encounters an old man (apparently the Ancient One) and a young Western boy who uses a stick to fight with. The young boy is not identified and is the only possible candidate that I can see for Stick.

What I don't get is the basis for concluding the young boy was the same Stick who trained Daredevil. Was that revealed in some other issue? Just looking for clarification.

DD 349-350 was a little ambiguous as to whether it was actually Stick or a hallucination (or whatever), but it seems to have been interpreted as actually him, since he went on to appear in Wolverine and later in Elektra's series (Larry Hama wrote both books at the time, for what it's worth). Daredevil does ask Stick (in DD 349, written by JM DeMatteis) if it's really him (since he saw him die), and Stick points out that Daredevil's supposed to be dead, too (Daredevil had faked his death some 20-25 issue prior).

Through DD 349-350, Stick only appears when Daredevil's alone (or surrounded by hallucinations of other versions of himself, or apparent hallucinations of the Chaste), but he does appear on a rooftop at the end of DD 350 when Daredevil's not around. It's still ambiguous (is Stick's ghost happy that Daredevil's himself again? or something?), but I can see why the conclusion was made that it was really him. Again, though, Stick continued to appear in other books for a few years after this. Given that, in hindsight, it must be the real Stick, right?

As for W2 113-FB, Stick was appearing at the time in both Wolverine's book and Elektra's book, both written by the same guy. It seems like a safe conclusion to come to that it's a young Stick. I don't know if any comic confirmed this, but the recent Marvel Index for Wolverine did (the placement didn't come from the Index, though. The MCP had W2 113-FB in Stick's chronology before the Wolverine Index was published).

Thanks, that was very helpful. Nice to see confirmation in an Index of something the Project had already postulated.

I still find it slightly odd, though. It would suggest that Stick learned from the mighty Ancient One himself, who already looks grizzled here. But the Ancient One ain't a martial artist, he's a sorceror. Oh, well, I accept it as the 'word of Marvel'. Maybe the Ancient One was one of several 'consultants' teaching Stick and there were some martial artists as well, BTS and not depicted in the flashback?

Stick and his pupils have displayed magical abilities in the past.

Quite true, Stick does seem to have at least some mystical abilities. But I kind of doubt he would learn his combat skill from the Ancient One, which is why I suggested that the AO may have been only one of several 'consultants' or teachers for Stick.
