Marvel Chronology Project

MCP lists Willie Lumpkin as appearing in Little Lizzie #5. There is a Mr. Lumpkin that appears, but it wasn't clear to me that this is the same character. Stan apparently liked the name "Lumpkin," so how do we know that this isn't just someone else with the same last name (or a relative of Willie)? His handbook entry doesn't appear to mention this Lizzie story. Is there some other source that confirmed his presence there?

And speaking of Willie, the handbooks confirm that his newspaper strip stories are 616. Does anyone have access to all of those? I know some of those were reprinted in Marvel Age (and if nothing else, at least those reprinted strips should go into his chronology), but weren't there others unreprinted? Does anyone know which newspapers carried the strip and which have back issues available electronically through their websites? That may be the only way to get all of his strips, since I very much doubt there will ever be a trade reprinting all of the old strips (if Howard's strip has never been collected, and there are so far only three volumes of Spidey's, then they'll never get around to doing Willie's strip).

No one can explain this Lizzie story being included? Someone here had to make the decision to include it in Willie's chronology, right?

Maybe I'm a little late, but The Official Marvel Index to Fantastic Four #1 lists Fantastic Four #11 as his first modern appearance and mentions that he appeared as Mr. Lumpkin in Timely publications.

UPD: The Marvel Comics Index #4 (1977) says that "Willie is actually a character from Marvel's Golden Age".
