Iron Man's appearance in Werewolf By Night 42-43

Post by StrayLamb »

In Avengers 152, Iron Man states that he recently fought beside the Werewolf, with an editorial note stating that was in issue 42 of WBN.

At the moment, the Iron Man chronology has the order like this, as per the Iron Man Official Index to the Marvel Universe, but i would submit this is an error, and that WBN 42-43 should go before Avengers 150..

A 150
A 151
A 152
A 153
A@ 6
A 154
SVTU 9
A 155
A 156
M/TIO 24
IM 92
IM 93
IM 94
WBN 42
WBN 43

Re: Iron Man's BTS appearance in Classic X-Men 4/2

In Iron Man's chronology page, his BTS appearance in CX 4/2 is listed as being after M/TU 51, but this is contradicted by the Wolverine and Nightcrawler chronologies, which correctly place CX 4/2 prior to UX 97 and ASM 161, which in turn, in the Amazing Spider-Man chronology, is placed prior to Iron Man's appearance in M/TU 44.

I would suggest that Iron Man's BTS appeareance in CX 4/2 should be placed earlier still, between M/TIO 12 and IM@ 3 (9-36), as UX 97 fits nicely between M/TIO 13 and M/TIO 14, which takes place on New Year's Eve, with IM@ 3 (9-36) leading into IM 88-91, which in turn tie in with DD 138 and GR 17-20, all of which are set in April.

Fnord at supermegamonkey does a good job of summing up the problem with placing Iron Man's appearance in WBN 42-43:
http://www.supermegamonkey.net/chronoco ... t_43.shtml
Iron Man begins this arc feeling "beat" after having been "put through the wringer sideways" with a footnote to Iron Man #93-94. However, this issue is referenced in Avengers #152, and that reference is more specific (Iron Man says that he fought beside a werewolf). And Avengers #153 is referenced in Iron Man #92; another specific reference, to Wonder Man's return and a battle with the Living Laser. And none of these issues are standalone fill-ins that can take place out of sequence. So since Iron Man #92 has to take place after Avengers #153, Iron Man #93-94 can't take place before Werewolf By Night #42-43 and Avengers #152.
You have to assume that one of the references is wrong to make the chronology work.

Hey now, StrayLamb.

You're pointing out good stuff. If something looks wrong we WANT you to say something. Even if it can be explained, there's nothing wrong with bringing it up for discussion.

You're doing great, keep it up!

Also, thanks Michael! :)
