There's a scene in Iron Man: The Inevitable #1 where Iron Man tells a SHIELD agent that Tony Stark has made a deal with Nick Fury where Tony gets to keep possession of the lazer prototype that houses the Living Lazer. Fury is not seen on panel anywhere...
The question is, is this the real Nick Fury? Or is this during a time period after the events of Secret War, and Nick Fury's in hiding, and so this must be either a LMD, or Iron Man is making it up that he cleared this with Nick Fury. Which is it?
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Nick Fury in Iron Man: The Inevitable #1
Your second choice, mostly.
This mini takes place during the time when SHIELD was using LMDs to hide the fact that Fury was in hiding. Maria Hill was in charge at the time, but not exactly publicly.
After Inevitable ends, Iron Man v4 #7-12 occurs, where a Nick Fury LMD appears... and Stark thinks he's the real McCoy for some reason.
So yes, Stark COULD have made a deal with "Nick Fury" in Inevitable #1, but it would be a Nick Fury LMD he made the deal with.

And yet, by the time of the first "Avengers: The Illuminati" one-shot, Iron Man is using Nick Fury LMD's to trick Bruce Banner (or was SHIELD still somehow tricking Iron Man by that point)?

Execute Program (IM4 7-12) came out way, way after H3 88-91 - which that Illumanati scene was in reference to - and was, frankly, a complete continuity trainwreck as I recall on several levels, of which the grey-haired Fury LMD-that-Stark-didn't-know-was-an-LMD was just the most immediate.Kevin W. wrote:And yet, by the time of the first "Avengers: The Illuminati" one-shot, Iron Man is using Nick Fury LMD's to trick Bruce Banner (or was SHIELD still somehow tricking Iron Man by that point)?
