In X-Men Legacy 232, Psylocke is explaining how Proteus was resurrected, with a flashback picture of him dispersing his being with Moira and Harness (can't recall what issue that was, maybe a New Mutants Annual which takes place before Star Trek/X-Men according to the handbook entry which came out before Legacy 232). She says he has been lying dormant ever since and was resurrected along with Destiny. No mention of him being in space. All signs point to Star Trek/X-Men not being canon.
The 1991 Annuals "Kings of Pain" 4-part crossover (New Mutants @ 7, New Warriors @ 1, Uncanny X-Men @ 15, X-Factor @ 6) to be exact.

Star Trek/X-Men was 1996.

Tales of the Marvels: Wonder Years #2 (1995) - Cyclops and Beast attend Simon Williams' memorial service.

Fantastic Four: The World's Greatest Comic Magazine #11 & 12

The Index shows that the X-Men appear in FF:WGCM 3-4, but they also appear in FF:WGCM 11, in which they see Mr. Fantastic's message on TV, then join the battle against Dr. Doom. In FF:WGCM 12, Professor Xavier and the X-Men appear behind the scenes. Dr. Doom rules the world until Mr. Fantastic uses the cosmic cube to defeat him.

In regards to the Star Trek/X-Men crossovers. The handbook mentions the Next Generation cross-over (under Kang) and that issue refrences the first cross-over with the original cast. Proteus became an energy being and that energy was dispersed at the end of Annuals. I think the evidence points to this could be canon.

These are great -- thanks very much for all the pointers!

Can anyone think of any more missed appearances, specifically prior to Giant-Size X-Men #1?

Proteus has always been an energy being. The problem is that the Kings of Pain Annuals make it sound like Proteus has lain dormant since UX 128, and his recent resurrection made it sound like Proteus has lain dormant since the Kings of Pain Annuals.

If dormant means "scattered all over the planet by the explosion caused by interaction with Colossus's steel body" in UX 128 then you'd be correct. In the Kings of Pain Annuals, Harness teleports all over the world using her son Piecemeal to absorb Proteus's energy traces. The ending of Kings of Pain isn't clear exactly what he [they] does [do] to commit suicide and scatter his energy again.

If you mean the MCP's chronologies for X-Men characters, they're all over the site -- sorted individually and alphabetically by character name. Click on the letters at the bottom of the forum or at the top of the main page, to be taken to a page for characters whose name starts with that letter.

If you mean the Official Index's chronologies, which I'm asking about in this thread, trying to see if there are any omissions -- they're not available online. They were published last year by Marvel in "The Official Index to the Marvel Universe" #1-14.

If you mean a big group chronology of "the X-Men" as a team -- it doesn't exist. Not on this site anyway.

Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the response. I was looking for one for the X-Men as a team, but thanks for the heads up. The spider-man list will come in handy for me.

Jeph!, in the X-Men/Doctor Doom Annual '98, wasn't Doom traveling to points in X-Men history, observing them. It's been a long time, but I think Phoenix sensed him in that, giving her an appearance around UX 113, it's possible that that annual, could have a lot intertwined if it shows new info.

On the Proteus note. He burnt out his original body after he escaped (UX 104), jumped into several hosts, was dispersed by Colossus (UX 125-UX 128), energy brought together in Kings of Pain crossover (NW, XF, NM and UX @'s). Redispersed, that is when his "energy" drifted to space (Star Trek/ X-Men crossover). My personal opinion is that his "original" body was what was resurected or reanimated for the Necrosha story arc, which is consistant with how others were found by Caliban to be resurected and why he was on Muir where I think his mother would have buried him.

Yes, that issue is a new appearance for Phoenix, during UX #104. I recall reading it and concluding that her noticing Doom was the *only* new material there -- everything else was a faithful retelling of the original issues. That said, I last read it 12 years ago. You may feel free to re-examine it and disagree with me.
Michael wrote:Here's the thing about the flashback in Cable 72- it continues from a flashback in C2 33 featuring Post, G.W. Bridge, Cable and the Mandarin. That flashback is listed in Post's, G.W.'s and Cable's chronologies but not in Mandarin's. My guess is that it would take place between IM 268-FB and TOS 50 (1-3:1). (This is important because the flashback COULD take place post-UX 1.)
Let's look at this sequence -- the flashbacks in Cable #33 and 72. Cable saves Post from Mandarin and takes him to Prof. X -- all back in the very early days of both the Mandarin and the X-Men. (Plus, there was info given in Cable #45 that, when Cable and Prof. X first met, Cable gave him an unspecified type of advanced technology.) I don't know much about Mandarin -- was TOS #50 his origin, or did he have the rings prior to TOS #50? If he did, how soon before TOS #50 did he get them?

TOS #49 occurs between UX #2 and 3. Does that help/hinder us in any way? If the Mandarin's *origin* is in TOS #50, then this Cable fb has to be after UX #2. But if not, then the fb could be beforehand.

I'm thinking that the "advanced tech" that Cable gave Prof. X may have become the Danger Room. That's the only big "technological leap" that Prof. X makes in the early run of the series (he had Cyberno/Cerebro back before he even recruited Cyclops). If that's the case -- and if we the Mandarin's origin is prior to TOS #50 -- then we could aim for a slot shortly before UX #1, which was the first (unnamed) appearance of various Danger Room devices.

Thoughts?

About 50 years before ToS #50. Mandarin finds his rings in "1954" and has had them ever since, leading up to his first appearance in ToS #50. Mandarin has all the time in the world to appear in these Cable flashbacks before ToS #50.

Crap. That doesn't help one bit. I guess the limiting factor here is that Prof. X is in his wheelchair, then -- placing this fb at least after the encounter with Lucifer that crippled him. Given that C2 #45 establishes that Cable gave Prof. X an unspecified form of advanced tech at this time, and "helped him build the mansion" from an old house into more of a mutant base ... any idea when this flashback could/should take place?

(Cripes -- maybe Cable DID give him Cyberno!)

Jeph!, It's UX 113 not 104, when they fight in the Volcano. I think Professor X could maybe get an appearance since we view him forom the mansion in UX 95. Doom fights Magneto, prior to the X-Men's battle on Avalon.

Here's the issues referenced:

UX 1
UX 63
UX 113
UX 142 (Days of Future present)
UX 95
UX 136
UX 167
UX 200
Magneto on Avalon
X 25

Looks like Prof. X and Magneto *do* have appearances, already listed in the MCP -- although Magneto's appearance is listed between X #72 and UX #364. Are you sure they're on Avalon?

The MCP places Phoenix's appearance during UX #104 ... hmm.
