Name that 2001 celebrity!

The first page of Wolverine #168 has a bunch of celebrity cameos. The two talking guys are Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync, and the guy below them with the sunglasses and bling is Ali G. But who are the others?

Remember, this comic came out in September 2001, so these would have been people in the public eye at that time -- and I'm assuming they're all from the music/entertainment industry, as well.

Who can help me ID these decade-old celebrities?

The one at the centre of the front row is Ali G, a character played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

Could the black guy be Michael Clarke Duncan and the guy furthest to the right be Ben Affleck?

True! I mentioned that in my original post, though.

Oh, sorry, I somehow missed that. But anyway, it should probably be listed under SACHA BARON COHEN rather than ALI G, unless evidence is presented that Ali G is a real person in the Marvel universe. :p

There's plenty of other fictional characters who are real in the MU (not counting the Marvel characters themselves), so no reason Ali G couldn't be. And it'd be very weird for Sacha Baron Cohen to go along to a sporting event as Ali G unless he was performing (no evidence that he is), as weird as it would be for, say, Patrick Stewart to turn up wearing his Star Trek uniform. Basically, we spot an actor doing a cameo dressed as one of their roles, we assume that it is the character they play present, not the actor in costume, unless they are on a film set or similar.

Quite frankly, I'd like some evidence that Sacha Baron Cohen is a real person in the Marvel Universe. ;)

Or in ours.

Ordinarily I'd agree, but the comparison with Stewart is unfair here. Baron Cohen does do a lot of prank filming and other off-set filming in his works, does interviews with the press in camera, for example, and I would say randomly turning up at a sporting event "in character" is entirely in character for him. He's known for it.

But if you reckon the Marvel universe has a real Ali G in it, then fair enough, and I'm actually quite amused by that idea. I suppose it could also have a real Borat and a BrĂ¼no. :p

Had a flash of inspiration. If Justin Timberlake and Chris Kirkpatrick are in the pic, may not the others be members of 'N Sync? And between 'N Sync and Ali G, maybe the others are all musicians from 2001?

Dan Fraga replied to a similar thread that I had started on a different board:
Dan Fraga wrote:I just got sent this link, so I hope I can clear things up since I drew the page in question.

Top row: Justin Timberlake, Lonny (N'sync bodyguard), Chris Kirkpatrick, Ryan Obrien (Friend), Josh Keaton (Voice of Green Lantern)
Bottom Row: Joe Mulvahill (Boys2Men manager), Ali G, Brian XL Truman (Friend)

Basically, I use to draw my friends in my books. It was a way to have fun and keep characters from looking too similar.
So basically, everybody was dead wrong. ;) But at least that answers that!
