Spider-Man vs. the Punisher one-shot

Post by Doctor_Spidey »

Has anyone ever analyzed the one-shot Spider-Man vs Punisher cover dated July, 2000?

Thanks!

I seem to recall this was one of those "Marvel Remix" books that merely rehashed old tales by new creators, this case being Amazing Spidey 129.

Yep.

There are differences, though. Punisher gasses Spider-Man (in SMvP) instead of Jackal clawing Spider-Man (in ASM 129). Punisher realizes Spider-Man is a hero when Spider-Man saves people from a crashing helicopter (in SMvP) instead of Spider-Man pointing out to Punisher that Jackal killed someone (in ASM 129). Also, Spider-Man is hallucinating from his initial "meeting" with Punisher until the helicopter crash in SMvP, where in ASM 129 Spider-Man has enough time to go home, sew his costume and then run into Punshier again... while not hallucinating.

Unfortunately the two don't mesh, making SMvP non-Earth-616.
