Okay, I've just finished reading X-Men Legacy #24 and, without spoiling anything, is the conclusion of this storyline going to be allowed to stand?
I mean, other storylines have had similar endings and continuity fans, including many on these boards, have always insisted that they were IMPOSSIBLE because the nature of the Marvel Multiverse DOES NOT ALLOW such events.
So, is this new status quo going to be dismissed as well? Or will it be accepted/incorporated into "mainstream" continuity?

The problem is that unlike Defenders vol. 5, this ending actually makes stories that happened years ago impossible. How did Nate Gray and the Dark Beast come to 616, for example, if this ending is allowed to stand? How did the Muir Island saga end? Is Destiny dead? How did Magik and Pixie get their souls back?

This could be spun a little bit. We know David still exists, because he is in Blindfold's head at the end (not a memory, but actually speaking to her). He also has pretty unlimited power. So it appears he rolled back time to the point where his father was killed and then made everyone else forget that he existed using another ability. A mental fog if you will.

It can "stand" the same way the "One More Day" Spider-Man wedding retcon can stand. Everything that we saw in old comic books still happened for MCP purposes, and we all just squint and keep moving forward.
