That would probably be the best policy but ONLY if every Marvel writer/editor would adopt it. For example, I had no problem with Jim Valentino using a sliding timescale with his Guardians of the Galaxy stories (as it pertained to when the "Martian" invasion occurred). However, when Michael Gallagher insisted on using the original ("fixed") 2001 date for the invasion in his stories, that created an inconsistency with Valentino's stories that couldn't just be ignored. If some writers insist on using fixed dates, then chronologists will be forced to continue to come up with ways of dealing with them.

Yes. My way is to ignore them. :-D

Some events get constantly retconned by Marvel to be father and farther in the past relative to the "eternal now" of the Marvel Universe. That's all.
