SHIELD training

Post by wolframbane »

If anyone here happens to be uber knowledgable about SHIELD, I has a few questions regarding their training.

1/ Does anyone know how long SHIELD members are trained for? Is anyone aware of any character that has been shown entering and later graduating SHIELD Academy? Has there been any references regarding how long a character had to train? I always figured that as an international government espionage agency, SHIELD may have had training periods similar to the CIA (believed to be slightly less than a year) or the FBI (a 15 week program).

I know that Hydra killed over 1500 graduates of SHIELD Central in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. v2 #25 (July, 1991). Was there any reference in that issue of how long they trained for?

2/ Are there any minimum age or educational requirements to join SHIELD? Quasar was a college graduate and Mockingbird had a Ph.D., but Daisy Johnson was herself only a high school graduate and the age of 18. I know that to join the FBI you need to be at least a college grad and age 23, but I am not certain about the CIA.

Well daisy is clearly an exception or at least could be becuase she was Meta and chosen by Nick ******* Fury himself!

So it doesnt neccesarily mean they usually take HS grads.

I have often wondered about SHIELD myself but I have never seen a detailed account of SHIELD or their training in a single comic and I have read a lot (probs not as much as you)

Wasnt Jessica Drew taken as an adult, which means they dont have a minimum age either.

I dont think their is any evidence that it is similar or should be similar to the rules about the FBI, afterall they as writers often forget are an international agency so no more likely to be FBI then british police force or anything else. I think Fury litereally made up every rule and untill an issue with his formation of shield I dont think we will ever know.

No mention that I saw in Agent of SHIELD #25 or #26.

As far as I remember, I don't think it's been specified what age requirements there are or how long their training programs last. I'd ASSume 18, and something close to the CIA, respectively.

Daisy was an exception, in that she was deputized without training by Fury from his caterpillar file.

Also, let's not forget the current Scorpion, who was drafted into SHIELD at 19 even though she was a high school dropout. Apparently, super-powered beings get special treatment...
