First, your image has to be already available on the internet. We don't host avatars here, so you'll need some place where you can store it. Make a note of the URL (or web-site address) for your image. The URL should end with either "gif" or "jpg".

Near the upper left-hand corner of the page, click on "User Control Panel".

Click the "Profile" tab.

On the left-hand side, click "Edit avatar".

In the "Link off-site:" text box, enter the URL for your image.

Click the "Submit" button.

Russ:

Where should I "keep" my image, once I've chosen and retrieved it??? And do I have to repeat the above process every time I log on???

No, only once, until you want to change your avatar.
