Doc Savage finds the treasure and defeats Rabanos, his accomplices and the Werewolf. With her father dead, Pat Savage accompanies Doc Savage on his return trip home.

NOTE:
Adapted from “Brand of the Werewolf,” published in January, 1934.

Pat Savage first appeared in DOCSAV 3, but this story obviously takes place before that. The story this was adapted from on was published before the story DOCSAV 3-4 was, so I guess we’ll use original novel publication dates as clues for placement.

Giant-Size Spider-Man #3 guest stars Doc Savage and crew, and is already in the MCP. It takes place in “1934.” The ASM Index places this story after DOCSAV2 8 and before DOCSAV 7; however, DOCSAV2 8 happens in 1939, so that’s wrong.

MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE #21 (November, 1976)
By Bill Mantlo & Ron Wilson

APPEARANCES:
1936: Doc Savage, Monk, Ham, Long Tom, Renny, Johnny, Dr. Raymond Lightner (also in fb, merges w/Tom Lightner & becomes Blacksun), Lucinda Lightner (Raymond’s wife, also in fb)
1976: Tony Stark (in fb), Janice Lightner (Tom’s sister, also in fb), Dr. Tom Lightner (also in fb, merges w/Raymond Lightner & becomes Blacksun), Thing, Human Torch

FLASHBACK:
1936: Lucinda Lightner tells her husband Raymond that she’s pregnant, so he beats her up. She goes to Doc Savage for help. 1976: Tom Lightner wins a prize from Toy Stark, but he refuses to take “charity.” His sister Janice tells him that they’re broke, so he beats her up. She goes to the Fantastic Four for help.
SYNOPSIS:
1936: Lucinda tells Doc Savage and his pals her story, so they go to the Lightner place to check it out only to get struck by a flash of energy. 1976: Janice tells Thing and Human Torch her story, so they go to the Lightner place to check it out only to get struck by a flash of energy. Everyone finds themselves in the same time, and Tom and Raymond are fused into one being called Blacksun. Everyone fights and Blacksun collapses. As everyone fades back into their own time, Thing decides to take Blacksun to Dr. Don Blake.

NOTE:
This story is noted as happening in 1936 for Doc Savage, so this is after all of DOCSAV 1-8 (1933-1934) and GSS-M 3 (1934). Also, the past sequence is not a flashback, this is a time travel/displacement story.

We’re currently missing this appearance for Tony Stark. It happens relatively shortly before the main story. Not immediately before, though.

Lightner only made one appearance as Mysterium, and yet his entire chronology is listed under that alias. He’s merged with his time-displaced father to become Blacksun, then he’s separated from him in M/TIO 58-FB and returned to normal. He appears in M/TIO 42-57 as Dr. Lightner, then becomes empowered as Nth Man in M/TIO 58-FB. Then he makes a few appearances before changing his identity to Mysterium for one appearance in SQS:NOW.
