BRUTE FORCE #1 (August 1990)
By Simon Furman & Jose Delbo
Based on characters developed by Charles Viola

APPEARANCES:
Dr. Randall Pierce (Multicorp scientist), Uproar (gorilla), Frost’s mercenaries (also disguised as Tastee Tony clowns), Adam Frost (Multicorp CEO), Jack Hudden (Fresh Air employee), Jennings (Frost’s aide), Ricky Pierce (Randall’s son), Wreckless (bear), Soar (“Slipstream,” eagle), Surfstreak (dolphin), Hip Hop (kangaroo), Lionheart (lion), Phil (Fresh Air pilot), Roger (Multicorp scientist), Tailgunner (vulture), Armory (octopus), Bloodbath (shark), Ramrod (rhino)

SYNOPSIS:
Dr. Randall Pierce is outfitting a gorilla with a suit of armor until a gang of clowns burst in and steal the animal. Pierce interrupts his boss Adam Frost (Multicorp CEO)’s PR event (where he’s giving $50,000 to Fresh Air, an environmentalist group) to give him the news, but Frost doesn’t care. Pierce goes back to his lab, where his son convinces him to gives suits of armor to more animals so they can get the gorilla back. They travel to the Amazon (because they heard the gorilla was helping destroy the rain forest) but run into mercenaries; Pierce recognizes one of them as the leader of the clown gang. The mercenaries escape, but Pierce is happy with Brute Force’s performance. Meanwhile, Frost assembles his own group of armored animals: Heavy Metal!

NOTE:
Pierce works for Multicorp and wants to help the environment by slowing pollution. Frost runs Multicorp and wants to make his company look better by making other companies look worse by either framing them for pollution, or sabotaging them by making their pollution worse than it is. His company pollutes too, of course, but he doesn’t want to look better by being better; he thinks that if other companies look worse no one will pay attention to his company, and therefore, he can pollute as much as he wants. Somehow, armored animals that speak English will help.
