Nᵗʰ MAN!

Post by Col_Fury »

Ah, Nᵗʰ Man. I remember picking Wolverine over you at the gas station back in the summer of 1989. Sorry about that, Nᵗʰ Man!

MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #25 (3ʳᵈ story) (early August 1989)
By Larry Hama & Ron Wagner

APPEARANCES:
John Doe (also in the future), Alfie Doe (also in the future), Elmore Biggot, Nurse Gooch (all also in fb), Jane Doe (in fb), Capt. Soloviev (in the future), Col. Novikova (in the future), Mr. O’Meagan, Mrs. O’Meagan

FLASHBACK:
A woman, burned from the inside, dropped two unrelated infants off at an orphanage, warning that one is bad and the other is good as she died.
SYNOPSIS:
Orphans John and Alfie Doe are punished for acting up again. They decide to use Alfie’s powers to view the future to pass the time. In the future, they watch CIA operative John Doe get capture by the Russians. They jump forward six months later and watch Alfie O’Meagan use his powers to deactivate all of America’s nuclear weapons. Back in the present (1968), the O’Meagans adopt Alfie, but not John.

NOTE:
The woman was unidentified, so she was buried as a “Jane Doe.” Since the infants were also unidentified, they were named John Doe and Alfie Doe. Alfie’s adopted by the O’Meagans here, so his name becomes Alfie O’Meagan (which is how he’s referred to through the present day parts of the Nᵗʰ Man series, he's Alfie Doe in the flashbacks). John Doe becomes the Nᵗʰ Man, of course.

Nᵗʰ MAN the ULTIMATE NINJA #1 (August 1989)
By Larry Hama & Ron Wagner

APPEARANCES:
Alfie O’Meagan (in fb), Mr. O’Meagan (in fb), Mrs. O’Meagan (in fb), Col. Graydon, Sgt. Debra Levin, Dr. Yagyu (retired dentist, trained Nᵗʰ Man), Col. Graydon, Capt. Alexander Ivanovich Soloviev, Col. Vavara T. Novikova (“Ice Queen”), Nᵗʰ Man (John Doe, CIA assassin trained to the Nᵗʰ degree to be the ULTIMATE NINJA!), Gen. Feng (leader of China’s military, bts), Mshl. Gerasimov (leader of Russia’s military, bts), Gen. Foster (bts in fb, see NOTE)

FLASHBACK:
Raised on a farm in Iowa, Alfie O’Meagan revealed he was a telekinetic so the government began testing him. His adoptive parents died in a car crash as Alfie fell into a coma for ten years. He awoke a year ago and cured every terminal case in the hospital with his powers. He was detained by the government, and six months later he deactivated all nuclear weapons in the world. Six weeks later, World War III started (the only part shown is him on a farm with his adoptive parents; everything else is revealed through dialogue).
SYNOPSIS:
It’s 1989 and World War III has been raging for six months, folks! The Americans send a rescue party to retrieve John Doe, the Nᵗʰ Man, from Russian captivity. When the Russians figure out what’s going on, they order John Doe to be killed. John Doe escapes, meets up with his rescue party and they all get out of Moscow.

NOTE:
John Doe was captured in M/CP 25/3, which also shows Alfie O’Meagan deactivating the world’s nuclear weapons.

Next issue reveals that with the threat of nuclear annihilation no longer around, countries started attacking each other over old boarder disputes. China attacked Russia, Russia attacked America (by way of Alaska) and Canada, England is still holding out and Scandinavia is fighting off attackers. America has joined forces with China against Russia!

Next issue also reveals that the America government had Alfie’s adoptive parents assassinated, and Alfie’s coma was self-induced so he could amplify his powers. Since he skipped ten years, though, he’s still at the emotional age of a teenager by the physical age of a 30-something.

Elsewhere, Col. Novikova is found guilty of treason (for letting Nᵗʰ Man escape), but her aide Capt.
