James Bond

James Bond is confirmed as a 616 character. He doesn't have an MCP chronology despite a couple Marvel appearances, so I thought I'd put one together for him. I'm not sure if Marvel's adaptations of For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy should be considered 616. I'm not aware of any references to those stories, but I also don't see anything in them that is incompatible with 616. I've included them below, but MCP is, of course, free to exclude them.
MARVEL SUPER SPECIAL #19 (1981)
By Larry Hama
APPEARANCES:
James Bond, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Blofeld’s cat, UK prime minister (unnamed), Jack, British naval spies, Melina Havelock, Sir Timothy Havelock, Iona Havelock, Hector Gonzales, Miss Moneypenny, M, pool floozies, Pablo, Julio, Emilio, Jaime, Q, Ferrara, Ari Kristatos, Bibi Dahl, Jacoba Brink, Emile Leopold Locque, The Dove (Milos Columbo), Erich Kriegler, bike assassins, cabin dweller, Otto, hockey assassins, Emil, Fritz, Lisl von Schlaf, Claus, Karageorge, Santos, Nikos, Max (parrot), Alexei
SYNOPSIS:
An adaptation of the film For Your Eyes Only.
NOTE:
There’s a mention of a “Greek woman” named “Electra” who “avenges her loved ones.” A reference to Elektra Natchios?
MARVEL SUPER SPECIAL #26 (1983)
By Steve Moore
APPEARANCES:
Military personnel, horses, James Bond, Bianca, Mischa, Miss Moneypenny, Penelope Smallbone, M, Jim Fanning, Gen. Gogol, Russian Chairman (unnamed), Gen. Orlov, Lenkin, Kamal Khan, Vijay, Sadruddin, bidders, pedestrians, hotel guests, Maj. Clive, Gobinda, Q, Octopussy, elephants, Midge, cormorants, Indian assassins, octopi, Francisco the Fearless, circusgoers, Borchoi, Russian soldiers, Heinrich, Wolfgang, Twin 1 (Mischa), Twin 2, cops, Octopussy’s “girls”, Magda
SYNOPSIS:
An adaptation of the film Octopussy.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #401 (Jun 1992)
By Mark Gruenwald
APPEARANCES:
Gomez Addams, Morticia Addams, Lurch, Humphrey Bogart, James Bond, Dagwood Bumstead, Albert Einstein, Minnesota Fats, Reid Fleming, Groucho Marx, Elvis Presley, Rod Serling, Dick Tracy, Yellow Kid
NOTE:
No summary is needed, since this issue has already been added to the MCP. However, the above characters have been overlooked. Some of them are admittedly oddities (e.g., Was Einstein raised from the dead or did he time travel from the past? Is this the 616 version of Dagwood, or did he somehow travel from his home reality?), but the Cap Index entry for this story confirms these characters’ appearances. Since the Cap Index doesn’t indicate these aren’t 616 characters, that’s what I’m going to assume (and what MCP has already assumed in the cases of John Steed, Emma Peel, and Popeye).
EXTRAS:
Comics.org indicates that the character who tries to enter the barber shop in Strange Tales #164 is a James Bond cameo. While that’s not an official source, it’s a very plausible interpretation of that sequence, so I’m going with it. Also, Blofeld (and his cat) has a cameo appearance in Deadpool vol. 5 #23. That issue hasn’t been added to MCP, and I’m not going to analyze an issue right in the middle of one of his stories. I’ve simply included Blofeld’s appearance in the issue below. I guess he somehow survived the events of Marvel Super Special #19. Also, Blofeld (as well as Goldfinger) is mentioned in the novel Revenge of the Sinister Six (confirmed by the handbooks to be a 616 story) as being a member of the Machiavelli Club, but he never actually appears, to my knowledge.
