Young Allies Comics #2-4

Post by Col_Fury »

YOUNG ALLIES COMICS #2 (Winter 1941)
By Ernie Hart

APPEARANCES:
Bucky, Toro, Jefferson, Knuckles, Tubby, Whitewash, Human Torch, Captain America, Black Talon (also as “Capt. Weatherbee”) & his men (Monk named), Baron Boche, Dr. Martin Livingstone (in fb), Dora Livingstone & her butler, Teena (Black Talon’s giant spider), bystanders

FLASHBACK:
Dr. Martin Livingstone is an explorer and finds a new island but is attacked by sea creature-like natives. He throws a message in a bottle into the ocean during a lull in the battle.
SYNOPSIS:
The Black Talon meets with a Nazi agent; they agree to work together. The Black Talon wonders what happened to explorer Dr. Livingstone. Later, the Young Allies go fishing and find a message in a bottle and deliver it to Dora Livingstone (who is being watched by the Black Talon). They’re attacked by the Black Talon but Toro runs them off. Dora reads the letter and decides to look for her father, even though he’s likely dead. After some back-and-forth shenanigans, Dora and the Young Allies get a ship and look for the island. A storm crashes them on the island and Toro is lost, so they hold a funeral for him. The Black Talon has followed them (he posed as their ship captain), teams up with the sea creature natives and attacks the Young Allies. The natives prepare to cook and eat the Young Allies. Toro wakes up and comes to the rescue (along with some elephants; where did they come from?). After some more chasing, Dr. Livingstone is found alive but he and Dora are captured by the Black Talon and the Nazis. Toro recruits the Human Torch and Captain America for help and everything works out just great.

NOTE:
An editor’s note points us to CAC 9 to see how Bucky met the Black Talon. Continuity!

Toro knows that Captain America is Steve Rogers, and where to find Steve.

Followed by “Unsolved Mysteries” one-page feature, “Cub Reporter” text story and “Debunker” one-page feature.

By Stan Lee & Al Gabriele

APPEARANCES:

SYNOPSIS:
Khan wants to conquer America for the Axis, so it’s a good thing the Young Allies are around to stop him. Honestly, there’s not much more to say about this. There’s a lot of running around…
