The Twelve #6
August, 2008

Appearances:
Black Widow(Claire Voyant), Blue Blade(Roy Chambers)-FB, Captain Wonder(Professor Steve Jordan), Dynamic Man(Curt Cowan), Fiery Mask(Dr. Jack Castle), Laughing Mask(Dennis Burton), Master Mind Excello(Earl Everett), Mister E.(Vince Jay), Phantom Reporter(Dick Jones), Rockman, the Witness(?), Colonel Frank Dexter

Synopsis:
Pg1-pg6: same night as end of last issue
The Laughing Mask is hauled off to jail and booked. Meanwhile, the Black Widow hangs out at a night club. Elsewhere, Dick Jones has writer’s block so he decides to become the Phantom Reporter again to spice things up. He’s interrupted by a phone call from Master Mind Excello who warns him that something terrible is about to happen.
Pg7-pg10: some time later
On the television a critic rips the Blue Blade’s show a new one. Meanwhile, Dynamic Man fights a man driving a robot suit in the street.
Pg11-FB: earlier in the day of pg7-pg10
Captain Wonder saves a space shuttle in distress and stops a terrorist attack on a Senator.
Pg12-pg13: same day as pg10
Some civilians invite Dynamic Man into a bar to thanks him for defeating the robot-guy, but it’s a gay bar and Dynamic Man leaves in disgust. Meanwhile, Col. Dexter chats with Danielle Rose who thinks that Rockman is her grand-uncle Daniel Rose.
Pg14-pg17-FB
Dan Rose was a coal miner who wanted to form a union. He had a wife and daughter and everyone in town loved him, except for Boss Clete, a company man for the Lufton Fuel Company. He tried to hire some guys to kill Dan Rose, but the plan backfired and the mine collapsed, creating a sinkhole destroying the twon and everyone in it, including his wife and daughter. It’s thought that the reason he survived is because the explosion gave his super strength and invulnerability.
Pg18pn1(of 4): same day as pg13
Danielle continues her story.
Pg18pn2-pg18pn3-FB
Dan Rose, overcome with grief, lost his mind. He would pound on the ground and wander the ruins of the town.
Pg18pn4-pg23
Danielle shows Dexter a picture of Dan Rose, and even though he looks like Rockman he tells her it isn’t the same man, so she leaves. Meanwhile, Rockman pounds the ground in the basement. That night, Dynamic Man, the Witness, Fiery Mask, & Mister E. watch television, Master Mind Excello expands his mind, the Laughing Mask stews in jail, everyone in the gay bar Dynamic Man was in earlier is slaughtered, the Black Widow is seen covered in blood and surrounded by body parts, and the Phantom Reporter returns!

References:
No Electro this issue, and the Blue Blade only appears on television. There’s enough time that’s passed between pgs 6 & 7 for the Blue Blade to have filmed an episode of his new show.

Did Black Widow kill all the bar customers? I guess we'll find out!

And here’s an example of why I usually wait for the story arc to end before I analyze it: Rockman!

If this FlashBack is proven to be true, it would seem to write off previous FlashBacks in this series to Rockman’s past and all of his appearances in USA COMICS to delusions on his part. Boss Clete resembles the ‘Evil One’, his wife resembles his Queen, and his daughter, who he calls his princess, resembles his princess. Until we see more I’ll set this off to the side and leave Rockman’s appearances as they are.

I found that if you observe the panels of Rockman's flashback (from Abysmia) from TWELVE 4, and the flashback in this issue, they are almost identical, except the change in location and characters. Boss Clete is in the same poses as the Evil One, as is Rockman and his family.
