Here is my review of DARING MYSTERY COMICS #2/5, the Mister E story which was reprinted in TWELVE #0.5/3

DARING MYSTERY COMICS #2/5
February 1940
"Who in Reality is Mr. 'E'?" (10 pages)

Characters:
MISTER E (Victor Jay; note his real name of Victor J. Goldstein was revealed in TWELVE 3; not to be confused with MISTER E II from M/SPT2 9)
VAMPIRE (not to be confused with VAMPIRE II (Dr. Togu) from ALL-WINNERS COMICS 5/2 or VAMPIRE III (Deke Wainscroft, also known as Vampire Killer) from P:POV 1)
Betty Snead, J. P. Snead

(1:2-10:2) Wealthy sportsman Victor Jay investigates the seemingly unrelated deaths of four businessmen during the past few weeks as the mystery man Mister E. He discovers that all four were silent partners with the Snead Oil Company, and were murdered by his old archenemy the Vampire, who had forced them to sign over their financial holdings and then murdered them with a gas that caused their hearts to explode. After abducting Betty Snead, the Vampire forces her father, oil tycoon J. P. Snead, to sign over complete control of his company. Mister E intervenes before the Vampire can kill them, allowing the Sneads to escape with the contract, and the masked men both retreat with the arrival of the police.
Note: Snead delivers the money "by Friday midnight" and thought Betty was visiting her aunt "for the weekend". Full moon. If this story occurs during the publication date of February 1940, I would suggest Friday February 23, a Friday which is the first of three nights of the full moon.

(10:3-10:5) Vicotr Jay read the newspaper of the event. Snead and his daughter tell their friend Victor Jay of Mister E, while at his secret laboratory, the Vampire plots his vengeance .
Note: The newspaper mentions the events "last night", this is probably Saturday February 24.
