Pg2pn4-pg7-FB: 1928
Origin of the Black Widow! Claire is visiting her sister in LA, and doesn’t like the situation she’s in. Her new boyfriend is very connected, he can get whatever he wants. Unsurprisingly she winds up dead, and Claire vows revenge on her sister’s grave. An entity answers, forever binding her to it. She ca now kill with a touch. She then kills Lester Maddox, her sister’s boyfriend and killer.
Pg8-pg11pn2: same night as (1-2:3)
Black Widow swears up and down that she didn’t kill the customers in the gay bar and given the way she’s explained her history and powers to the Phantom Reporter, he may be inclined to believe her. But who knows? Elsewhere, Dr. Jack Castle is questioned by the police. There were scorch marks found at the gay bar murder scene and his powers are fire-based. They question his origin, which makes Dr. Castle think of something from his past after he’s released.
Pg11pn3-pg11pn4-FB
Dr. Castle stands over a dying man he can’t save. The dying man says he has something very important for Jack as the man ignites his hand.
Pg11pn5-pg11pn6(of 6): same night as (8-11:2)
Frustrated, Dr. Castle walks away from the police precinct.
Pg12-pg19pn1(of 4): next day
The Blue Blade chats with Elizabeth Zogolowski as she sets up her father’s Electro equipment. She explains how it works and the Blue Blade tries it out. He’s impressed with Electro but accidentally activates it’s boot jets. Once he calms it down he accidentally(again) downloads his memories/consciousness into Electro. He turns the machine off and thanks Elizabeth, but he’s realized something. As they leave, there are scorch marks noticed on the ground under Electro’s boot jets…
Pg19pn2-pg19pn4-FB: between last issue and this issue
Master Mind Excello pays the Laughing Mask’s bail, writes a letter, and sends it and a new suit to the Phantom Reporter.
Pg20-pg22pn1(of 5): same day as (11:5-11:6)
The Phantom Reporter reads a letter sent to him by Master Mind Excello and looks at a new suit he’s sent him. Rockman comes in and chats with the Reporter; he says that he had a dream where he spoke with Master Mind Excello and he told him the he would see his family again very soon. Rockman seems very pleased by this. Later, the Blue Blade checks out the new suit the network has made for him, then drives off for a meeting.
Pg22pn2-pg22pn4-FB: the Great Depression
A young Roy Chambers chats with his friend Bill about moving to California and making something of himself, while reading a ‘Scarlet Sabre’ comic strip in the newspaper.
Pg22pn5-pg23: same day as (20-22:1)
Dynamic Man shows up to meet with the Blue Blade, and the Blue Blade ays he has something to tell Dynamic Man; he’s figured something out…
References:
Hrmn. This is the second origin they’ve thrown into question so far, but at least this one can be reconciled with previously published stories if needed. I guess we’ll see what happens with the Fiery Mask’s history in upcoming issues, but for now I’ll set it aside, just like with Rockman.
We’re getting closer to finding out what’s going on with Electro…
