X-Men: First Class Finals #2

X-Men: First Class Finals #2 (May, 2009)
1st story: "Beginning of the End"

Characters
Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Marvel Girl

Other Characters
Frederick, Juggernaut (maybe), Agent Duncan FBI, various FBI agents, possibly Magneto.

Flashback: Frederick relates what’s happened to him since X:FC2 10. He absorbs more radiation, digs his way out of the mine into the Moloids’ tunnels and kills (and eats!) some of them.

Synopsis: They fight Frederick and he’s defeated by what appears to be the Juggernaut who appears from nowhere and vanishes again mysteriously. Agent Duncan of the FBI and a team of agents takes Frederick away and does radiation decontamination on the X-Men. The team decides to contact Professor X using Cerebro to warn him about Juggernaut but Jean doesn’t have any luck. Beast receives a letter from a headhunter from the Brand Corporation looking for research scientists and the team discusses further what they plan to do after graduation. Jean picks up a mutant signal with Cerebro in the quarry where she helped Invisible Woman locate the Mad Thinker’s hideout (X:FC2 1). They use the Blackbird to get there fast. They explore the cave and are suddenly attacked by a pile of animated scrap metal. To be continued...

Notes: The mysterious appearance and disappearance of the Juggernaut suggests this might still be a dream and that the second half of the previous issue may also still be part of their shared dream.
Hank wonders if Brand Corp would mind him using the labs for non-company work after hours.
Warren says “Pop’s going to be mad that I didn’t take any business classes here.” Warren’s father is dead by this point so I suspect that either the writer messed up, this is a dream sequence, or Warren just had a moment where people forget for a second that their loved one is dead and then realize their loss all over again a second later (between pannels). Warren is also checking out U.C.L.A. at the beginning of The Champions #1 with Bobby. Maybe he was thinking about taking those business classes there?
Warren says he’ll hire Bobby once he becomes a certified accountant. It’s possible Warren eventually makes good on this and Bobby is actually working for Warren Industries in that accounting office in X-Factor #1.
Scott doesn't think an employer would want to employ someone who always wears sunglasses. Bobby suggests lifeguard. Scott says he's thinking he might stay on at Xavier’s and become a teacher for new mutant students.

X-Men: First Class Finals #2 (May, 2009)
2nd story: "X-Date Part 2"

Characters
Scott, Jean, Warren (voice over the phone only)

Other Characters
Zelda
(on tv) Captain America, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Thor, and Wasp (as the Avengers).
Millicent Collins (reporter)

Synopsys: Scott & Jean watch Millicent Collins interview Scarlet Witch on tv at the Coffee A Go-Go. Scott decides to be spontaneous and calls Warren to ask if he can take his car into Manhattan to treat Jean to a proper restaurant. On the road Scott slams on the breaks as they are about to run into something. To be continued...

Notes: Can someone tell me when this might fit for the Avengers? It’s sometime after UX 32 (roughly post-Avengers 40?). This seems like an odd line-up. It’s possible other members are just off camera? It’s strange that Quicksilver isn’t mentioned/doesn’t appear.

You might want to consult Jason Rivera's detailed lists concerning Avengers vol. 1 and the various characters to appear. See: http://www.whiterocketbooks.com/avenger ... intro.html

Lets see what issues include the above mentioned Avengers. For clarity purposes lets ignore appearances after #137 when Beast joined the roster.

*Captain America. He serves in #4-47. In the final issue of this run he quits the Avengers for the first time. But he returns for "guest" appearances in #52, 56, 58, 69-72, 75-76, 78-82 and 85-88. He rejoins the team in the long run for issues 93-126. He quits for a second time in the last issue. Appears as Nomad in #131. Returns as Captain America and Avenger in #137. Basically almost constantly active between #4 (March, 1964) and #126 (August, 1974).

*Iron Man. He serves in #1-16. In the final issue of this run he quits the the Avengers for the first time. He returns for "guest" appearances in 45, 51, 58, 60, 66-67, 70-71, 76, 79-82 and 86-88. He rejoins the team in the long run for issues #93-228. Basically active from #1 (September, 1963) to #16 (May, 1965) and again from #45 (October, 1967) to #228 (February, 1983). The period between #45 and 126 is of particular interest because of serving alongside Captain America and newer recruits.

*Scarlet Witch. She serves in issues #16-30. In the last issue of the run she quits the Avengers for the first time. She returns for a second run in #36-49. She quits again but makes "guest" appearances in #53 and 58. She rejoins the team in the long run for issues 75-211. Basically she serves from #16 (May, 1965) to #30 (July, 1966), again in #36 (January, 1967) to #58 (November 1968) and for the third time in #75 (April, 1970) to #211 (September, 1981). The period between #75 and 126 is of particular interest because of serving along both Captain America and Iron Man.

*Thor. He serves in issues #1-16. In the last issue of the run he quits the Avengers for the first time. He makes "guest" appearances in issues 45, 51-52, 58, 66-71, 76, 79-82 and 84-88 . He rejoins the team in the long run for issues #93-151. Basically active from #1 (September, 1963) to #16 (May, 1965) and again in #45 -151 (October, 1967) to #151(September, 1976). Again the period of interest is #75-126 for serving alongside Captain America, Iron Man and the Scarlet Witch.

*Wasp. She serves in issues #1-16. She quits the Avengers for the first time in the last issue of this run. Returns for a "guest" appearance in #26. She rejoins for issues #28-75. She makes guest appearances in #83, 90-91 and 100. She does not rejoin until #137. No regular appearances between #100 (June, 1972) and #137 (July, 1975). The period #75-100 where she is at least available for guest appearances is of interest because of serving alongside Captain America, Iron veMan, Scarlet Witch and Thor who were also available to the Avengers at the time.

Do you suppose this is Millie Collins (Millie the Model)? Perhaps they are showing us that near the end of her long modeling career, she tried to become a television personality...
