Captain America Comics 70th Anniversary Special

Post by Leoparis »

Writer: James Robinson
Artist: Marcos Martin

1940 Cast: Steve Rogers
A doctor
A general
An American agent at an army recruitment center in Brooklyn
Human Torch
A Federal agent for Project Super-Soldier (dies)
Three German agents (two die)
New Yorkers
"A guy named Simon in the Timely Building" (an official for Project Super-Soldier)

1942 cast:
Captain America
Bucky
soldiers on a plane

1-2 1942 somewhere above Europe a plane is going to the Alps with Cap, Bucky and a commando to stop an operation about something called the Sleepers. They have one hour before reaching the target.
3-18 1940 After Steve is rejected at a physical, he stumbles onto a Federal agent who confides him a jewel to bring to the Timely Building. Steve is pursued by three spies, two get killed during the chase, Steve escapes.
19-20 "Later" He has delivered the jewel which contains a code. He gets considered for the super-soldier project he recovered. An agent tells him he might be 4-F but is 1-A in American spirit and wants to have a talk with him. (This must take place just before Cap #109 pg 9 where General Phillips picks him up. In the retelling in Cap 255, Rogers volunteers after being rejected for the draft. The doctor asks him if he was sure he was A1. So I guess the agent told Rogers to volunteer or pass a new physical)

pg 7: The Human Torch can be seen flying in the sky.

21-23 1942, Bucky reckons that the agent who escaped is the one that led the Nazis to Erskine. CapAmerica and the others drop from the plane.

Chronology: There are two parts, the part in 1940 occurs during and right after a physical.
The part in 1942 occurs just before an attack in the Alps on a base related to the Sleepers.

I have no idea where to put HT's appearance in 1940, and Cap and Bucky's appearance in 1942
