Here is my full review for the Marvel adaptation of Solomon Kane. The primary reading order was derived from the articles THE TRAIL OF SOLOMON KANE (from KULL AND THE BARBARIANS #3) and KANE... THE AVENGER, THE LIFE AND TIMES OF SOLOMON KANE (from SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #219), both written by Fred Blosser.

Notes: Adapted from "The Castle of the Devil" by REH. Baron von Staler's first name was revealed in Marvel Atlas #1. A demon "Satan" is BTS; as numerous demons use the name Satan (Mephisto, Satannish, etc.), it is unrevealed which demon it is.

SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #22/2 (5:3 - 5:7)-FB ~ DOCTOR STRANGE v3 #37 (7:1 - 7:4)-FB
Synopsis: when the Scheusslischer Lindwurm atacks the lands around Castle Frankenstein, Germany, Baron Hans Von Frankenstein sacrifices Annemarie to the creature. His brother, the knight George Von Frankenstein, slays the dragon but is himself slain, and is posthumously recognized as St. George.

Notes: "1531" (SSOC 22/2, DRSSTR3 37). An adaptation of "Valley of the Worm" by REH depicted in Supernatural Thrillers #3 stated that during the Hyborian Age, an Aesir named Niord fought a dragon-like beast, and that the later battles of St. George, Beowulf and Perseus were all racial memories of that battle, but these three heroes have been depicted in the Marvel Universe. An otherdimensional counterpart of St. George existed on Earth-88194 (as designated by OHOTMU: Alternate Universes 2005), or "Earth-Shadowline."

Kane is freed by Ali-Ben Ar, son of the caliph and a prophet attempting to unite the people of Islam. Notes: King Solomon was also the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth from 1000-800 BC, and was succeeded by his lover Balkis, Queen of Sheba (Marvel Tarot), the daughter of the demoness Lilith, and Solomon also had an unnamed child with Lilith (OHOTMU A-Z #6 Hardcover). He possessed great wealth in his tomb, including the Brass Frogs (Black Panther #1), and his mines were located in Wakanda (OHOTMU #1). His father was King David of Isreal, who had also slain the Philistine giant Goliath (Bible Tales For Young Folk #1/3, Bible Tales For Young People #4/3, Bible Tales For Young People #4/4, Amazing High Adventure #5/2) and was friend to the Forgotten One (Avengers #300).

Hassim opens an ancient tomb sealed by King Solomon and is slain by a demon, which is destroyed by Kane.

During the Hyborian Age circa 10,000 BC, Conan discovers the city of Negari ruled by King Yabalya. Both Kane and Conan find themselves transported by the power of the Staff of Solomon to Negari circa 16,000 BC.

Notes: Adapted from "Death's Black Riders" by REH. This story occurs in 1606, "four decades" (SSOC 219) after the events of SSOC 34/2 in 1566. Conan is originally from circa "10,000 BC" (Conan #1). They travelled to circa 16,000 BC, "2000 years" (SSOC 220) after the city was founded before Atlantis sank circa 18,000 BC.

SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #220
Synopsis: Kane and Conan escape into the ancient city of Negari. The sorcerer Nakura mystically binds his skull to the Negari and has slaves Dygor and Kari overthrow the Atlantean rulers. Kari murders Nakura but his skull becomes a holy relic. Kane and Conan return to the 17th century and destroy the skull of Nakura, and Conan is restored to his own time.

Synopsis: An elderly Kane travels aboard the ship Athena, a vessel bound from India to England. When the captain Allen Stewart attacks an unarmed Portuguese vessel, the Bianca, Kane helps defend the Portuguese crew and kills Stewart. The Portuguese captain allows Kane onto the Bianca, which sails for Japan.
