FLASHBACK:

FLASHBACK:
Kiden Nixon and her friends try to figure out who would have abducted Cameron Palmer. Kiden uses her time-stop powers to get some things from their apartment only to find she and her friends have been framed for the abduction and the police are already investigating them for it. Later, they argue about if they should try to help Cameron or not. They decide to do so, and visit someone Bobby knows who might know something about the abduction. Of course, they’re attacked when they get there.

NYX: NO WAY HOME #3 (December, 2008)

FLASHBACK:
Kiden and her friends overpower Bobby’s contact, and get a phone number from him. Tatiana was shot during the fight, so they take her to a hospital. Later, they call the number, only to find out they’ve been followed all night by the guy on the other end of the number. He knocks out Kiden and attacks Bobby. Bobby possesses the guy and makes him stab himself. When Kiden wakes up Bobby has amnesia again (like he does every time he uses his powers).

NYX: NO WAY HOME #4 (February, 2009)

Kiden uses her time-stop powers to get Tatiana out of the hospital, but SHIELD agents are preparing to arrest Tatiana and have a power jammer. Kiden and her friends manage to escape while Trish Tilby interviews people on the street. They visit a doctor Bobby’s heard about, who turns out to be Cecelia Reyes. She tends to Tatiana’s wounds and leaves to call Beast. Meanwhile, a lady attacks Kiden in the street and gives her a photo of the captive Cameron Palmer, with instructions of how to rescue her. Meanwhile, Cameron plays chess with Nick Nixon’s ghost.

NYX: NO WAY HOME #5 (March, 2009)

FLASHBACKS:
Nick Nixon’s ghost sees various possible futures, unfortunately in all but one of those futures Kiden is killed (before issue #1’s flashback). Kiden leaves her friends and meets with the woman who attacked her. The woman (Sniper Chick) knocks Kiden out (before issue #1’s “now” segment).
SYNOPSIS:
Sniper Chick tests Bobby’s and Tatiana’s powers while taunting them, and reunites Tatiana with Cameron Palmer. Meanwhile, the ghost of Nick Nixon checks in on the captive Kiden Nixon.

NYX: NO WAY HOME #6 (April, 2009)

SYNOPSIS:
Nick Nixon tells Kiden that he arranged Cameron Palmer’s abduction. Meanwhile, Lil’ Bro kills Sniper Chick. Nick tries to explain that if he didn’t arrange for Cameron’s abduction, then Kiden would have died, but Kiden doesn’t care. The kids go to rescue Cameron, but she’s been driven insane. Nick watches the kids leave with Cameron and chats with Sniper Chick’s father, who has an interest in mutants. The kids drop the unconscious Cameron off in front of a hospital. THE END.

NOTE:
This mini was published at roughly the same time as Secret Invasion, but in one of the futures that Kiden’s father sees the Thunderbolts have not yet become the Dark Avengers. Also, SHIELD hasn’t been replaced by HAMMER yet. So, this mini happens sometime before Secret Invasion.

Tattoo Man and Sniper Chick are both named in the extra features, not the story. Sniper Chick’s father is never named. Also, we have Kiden’s father listed as “Pat Nixon;” it should be “Nick Nixon.”

I'm not sensing the nature of Kiden's behind-the-scenes appearances in issues 2-4. Yes, she's narrating some of the scenes, but that's just a storytelling device, much like Punisher's war journal entries. For us, FB means that the scene occurs prior to some previously seen scene. Flashbacks don't have to be related by someone. Kiden's clearly not relating the discussion between her father and Sniper Chick's father in issue 4, or Reyes discovering the note from the kids, so they're not flashbacks, in the sense of we're actually hearing someone describe events.

Regarding the flashback ending in the middle of issue 5, I had interpreted the first scene in issue 1 as following issue 5, where Kiden's father enters the room to stand over her, while she's chained to the exam table. We hear him talking in the scene in issue 1, so I think he's there. So I think the first scene in issue 1 occurs after the last scene in issue 5, which would make all of issue 5 part of the flashback sequence.

OK, I can see that. In that case, we'll need page/panel ranges for Nick Nixon in #5, because the first three pages take place before the mini starts for him.

Re: issues #2-5
True, Kiden wouldn't know the details of what other characters are doing, but that's one of the problems when using this type of extended flashack forward/flash back story structure. I just find it odd that when we look up NYX:NWH 4 in the search, every character will be listed in flashback, but there's nothing to flashback back FROM, you know? The story's obviously told with Kiden as the main protagonist in mind, she's the one being held on a table from issues #2-5, and it's the story of how she got there and moved past it. *shrug*
