THANOS RISING #1 (June, 2013)
By Jason Aaron & Simone Bianchi

APPEARANCES:
Thanos (also in -FB), Sui-San (in -FB), Mentor (in -FB) Death (in -FB), Eros (-BTS in -FB)

FLASHBACK:
When Thanos is born his mother immediately tries to murder him. His father stops her and puts her in an asylum. Thanos makes friends at school while growing up, and despite wanting to be a scientists, can’t bring himself to perform dissections. A girl tells Thanos to check out some cool gems in a cave, so Thanos and his friends do so. Unfortunately, a cave-in kills all of his friends. When Thanos wakes up he finds the bodies of his friends being eaten by lizards. Later, the girl convinces Thanos to take his rage out on the lizards. Thanos, who earlier couldn’t dissect a dead lizard, now slaughters a bunch of them.
Thanos visits the ruins of Titan and recalls his origins.

NOTE:
The girl who tells Thanos about the cave is revealed in issue #4 to be Death. Issue #5 heavily implies that Death is only a hallucination of Thanos’, but of course we know that Death is a real character in the Marvel Universe.
