KID COLT (September, 2009)
By Tom DeFalco & Rick Burchett

APPEARANCES:
Kid Colt (also in -FB) & his horse (Steel), Everett “Hawk” Hawkmore (drifter), Sheriff McGreeley (crooked sheriff, also in -FB), Samuel Gemmell (Federal Marshal), Sherman Wilks (bounty hunter, also in -FB), Li’l Jeb (Kid Colt’s brother, in -FB), Kid Colt’s parents (die in -FB), Joshua McGreeley (the sheriff’s brother, in -FB)

FLASHBACKS:
Kid Colt’s parents are killed by Joshua McGreeley, because they won’t sell their land to him. Kid Colt kills McGreeley and his men, but his brother the sheriff brands him an outlaw. Kid Colt begins to search for a witness to clear his name (Kid Colt’s origin). Sherman Wilks fights in the Civil War for the South (Wilks’ origin).
SYNOPSIS:
Kid Colt is attacked by a posse while eating breakfast, but he’s able to fight them off with some help from Everett Hawkmore, a drifter. Later, Federal Marshal Samuel Gemmell arrives in town and tells the local sheriff (McGreeley) that he’s here to bring Kid Colt to trial (Kid Colt’s accused of killing a farmer). McGreeley wants to have Kid Colt killed before that can happen, and has hired bounty hunter Sherman Wilks to do it. That night in the woods, Kid Colt finds Marshal Gemmell, who tells the Kid that if he can find a witness the trial will go in his favor. The next day, Kid Colt and Hawk are attacked by Sherman Wilks. They escape the bounty hunter’s initial attack, but they’re eventually surrounded. Suddenly, a group of scavengers attacks everyone. They team up to fight off the scavengers, but Wilks still tries to bring Kid Colt in after they’ve won. Kid Colt kills Wilks by shooting him in the face, and passes off the corpse as “Kid Colt.” He leaves town with Hawk, looking for a witness to clear his name.

NOTE:
I really don’t know much about the Western characters. Kid Colt’s origin is shown here, but I have no idea if it’s repeated from somewhere else (or if it’s ever been shown before). No date is given, but it’s long enough after the Civil War for Wilks’ hair to turn from black to white. Also, it’s suggested that Kid Colt is sixteen or seventeen years old.

Kid Colt’s real name is given as “Blaine Cole,” but we have it listed as “Blaine Colt.” Is that an alias or a typo?

Are Hawk, Sheriff McGreeley and Federal Marshal Samuel Gemmell regular characters in Kid Colt’s book? They’re the only characters to survive…
