AVENGERS ORIGINS: THOR (January, 2012)
By Kathryn Immonen & Al Barrionuevo

APPEARANCES:
Thor (also as Don Blake), Loki, Sif, Odin, Brokk, Eitri, Huginn, Muninn, Hela, Surtur, Ulik, Heimdall

SYNOPSIS:
Thor, Loki and Sif play games, but Thor chastises Loki when he gets a little too aggressive with Sif. Later, Loki cuts off Sif’s golden hair. Thor attacks Loki, but Odin stops their fight. Odin was going to send both Thor and Loki on a mission, but only sends Thor because of Loki’s mischief (the “prank” on Sif). Thor is sent to Brokk and Eitri and commands them to make three gifts for Odin. They make Gullinbursti (a living golden boar), Draupnir (a golden armband) and Mjolnir (made of Uru and forged in the heart of a star). They and Thor present the gifts to Odin, and Odin enchants the hammer; anyone worthy to lift it will be able to command thunder and lightning. Years later, Thor is still unable to lift the hammer. He chats with Sif (who now has black hair) and Odin about the problem. Later, when Asgard is under siege, Thor is able to lift the hammer because he needs it, not because he wants it, and saves Sif from Hela. With Mjolnir, Thor battles Surtur, Ulik and breaks treaties by picking fights. Odin tells Thor he’s become and arrogant bully, and to teach him humility Odin casts Thor to Earth, bound in the form of a lame doctor, unaware of his true self. Once he spent enough time healing others Don feels compelled to take a vacation in Norway. After being attacked by aliens he finds a new walking stick, but when he strikes it on the ground it turns into Mjolnir, transforming him back into Thor.

NOTE:
This comic strings together bits from T@ 11 (sends Thor to Brokk & Eitri, they make Mjolnir), T@ 11 (Loki cuts off Sif’s hair), JiM #102/2 (lifts Mjolnir) & JiM 83 (Don turns into Thor).

The problem is, in T@ 11 Odin sends Thor (instead of Thor and Loki) to Brokk and Eitri because Loki was screwing around with Gungnir. Here, Odin sends Thor (instead of Thor and Loki) to Brokk and Eitri because Loki cut off Sif’s hair. In T@ 11, Thor already had Mjolnir before Sif’s hair was cut off. Here, Sif’s hair is cut off directly before Mjolnir is forged.

I’m not seeing a way to fit this in. :(
