FANTASTIC FOUR: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY (July, 2006)

FLASHBACK:
Ben warns Johnny that Sue is on one of her cleaning rampages again. Johnny throws everything under his bed, but he’s caught. The three check in on Reed, who stuffed all of his stuff in a tesseract closet. Johnny opens the door and a bunch of stuff spills out. Sue and Johnny make dinner, but a creature came though when Johnny spilled the machines. The Fantastic Four battle the creature, but it kills Sue.
SYNOPSIS:
Reed holds Sue’s dead body. Johnny uses Reed’s time machine to travel back in time one hour, knocks out past-Johnny ad stuffs him under the bed. Sue checks to see if Johnny cleaned his room, but he didn’t, so she doesn’t check under the bed. They check on Reed, but Ben opens the door and a bunch of stuff spills out. Johnny melts it all to slag. Sue and Johnny make dinner, but a creature came through before Johnny melted the machines. The creature fires a blast at Sue, but Johnny gets in the way, saving her. The other Johnny wakes up and attacks future-Johnny, who survived the blast. Future Johnny explains things and goes back to his own reality. Reed explains that Johnny didn’t change anything, he just diverged the timeline; his own Sue is still dead.

NOTE:
There are two sets of the Fantastic Four that appear here. The universe where Sue died appears in both the flashback and the main story; the regular Marvel Universe versions don’t appear in the flashback.

This comic was published between FF 537 (a Civil War prelude) and 538 (a Civil War crossover issue), and the same month as Marvel Knight Four #30 and Thing #7.
