SYNOPSIS:
The Enterprise finds a rift in space and a starship that came out of it. Gladiator flies out of the ship and punches the Enterprise. Meanwhile, the X-Men have teleported onto the Enterprise and look for the sick bay to help the injured Gambit. They’re quickly found, and after a quick fight between Wolverine and Spock, make friends with the Enterprise’s bridge crew. Meanwhile, Deathbird and the Imperial Guard find a powerful life form on a nearby planet. On the planet, Proteus has possessed Gary Mitchell’s body. The X-Men, Enterprise crew and Imperial Guard all teleport down to the planet’s surface. After a battle, Proteus and Gary are defeated, Deathbird decides to return home and the X-Men say goodbye.

NOTE:
Gary Mitchell is from the Stark Trek episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before.”

Obviously, we join the story in progress. However, Proteus had already made his way to the Star Trek universe somehow beforehand. Proteus “died” back in UX@ 15/XF@ 6 on Muir Island, and then reconstituted in X:L 231 on Muir Island (the one in the HoM crossover is a divergent Proteus). That means Proteus “died” on Muir Island, somehow made his way here, and then came back on Muir Island.

This was published the same month as UX 339, X 59, XU 13 & W2 108. At this time, though, Wolverine was in his “no nose” period following W2 100. This needs to take place sometime before W2 100. Also in this stretch before W2 100, Beast was captured and replaced by Dark Beast. So before X 50 also, then.
