FLASHBACK:
As SHIELD recovers at the Triskelion in Iran, Captain America and Thor get Iron Man to the hospital, where they learn Iron Man’s brain tumor is back. Meanwhile, Black Widow check in on her son and mother.
SYNOPSIS:
The New Ultimates are sent to recover stolen SHIELD materials, which turns out to be Mimic, an experimental super human. The SHIELD agents that stole him tell the New Ultimates that they work for Nick Fury, and that he’s a traitor and has been selling super human enhancements to foreign countries for years.
NOTE:
One of the Giant-Men (they’ve also been called Goliaths, the names seem to be interchangeable) is finally named here; Dr. Scott Lang.

Cash reveals he’s working for Carol Danvers, and she’s a traitor and has been selling super human enhancements to foreign countries for years. Meanwhile, the New Ultimates prepare to go after Nick Fury.
NOTE:
This issue reveals that the first two Ultimate Iron Man series’ are actually just a cartoon.
ULTIMATE AVENGERS vs. NEW ULTIMATES #3 (June, 2011)

SYNOPSIS:
Thor tells his girlfriend Jane Foster that Nick Fury is a traitor; she finds it hard to believe. Iron Man buys the hospital so he doesn’t have to stay there and recover. Captain Britain tells Carol Danvers that Iran is upset that the Triskelion is still there, and they’re only giving SHIELD a few days to get rid of it. Nick Fury arrives and confronts Carol Danvers and a fight breaks out. The New Ultimates fight the Avengers. When the fight spills into public, Punisher shoots at Captain America to save Nick Fury. Spider-Man swings by and takes the bullet meant for Cap’s knee.
NOTE:
I guess Captain Britain DIDN’T die during Ultimatum, because he’s just fine here. I wonder if the other European super heroes survived as well, despite the text page in Ultimatum #5?
ULTIMATE AVENGERS vs. NEW ULTIMATES #4 (July, 2011)

SYNOPSIS:
Medics start to tend to Spider-Man but Thor finally arrives and destroys the bridge everyone is standing on. More fights ensue, most of the Avengers escape but Fury is captured and Danvers is hit by a police car in the confusion. Later, the President puts Gregory Stark in charge of SHIELD. The New Ultimates recover at Tony’s place and find it hard to believe that either Fury or Danvers are traitors. Later, Gregory Stark tells Fury that he framed both Fury and Danvers so he could take over SHIELD, then has Fury shot.
NOTE:
The president is drawn like some generic white guy here, but later in the mini he’s drawn like Barack Obama.

Nick Fury and the Avengers take Tyron Cash back to his place, get his Hulk pills and kill him (between issues #2-3).
SYNOPSIS:
Nick Fury Hulks-out and the Avengers arrive, also Hulked-out. Gregory Stark reveals he has technology in his clothes that are better than Iron Man’s suit and fights back. Meanwhile, on Gregory Stark’s orders, super humans in North Korea start a revolution, led by the Spider. The New Ultimates hear about it, and Thor teleports them to North Korea to stop the fighting. The Avengers also arrive, still Hulked-out, and join the New Ultimates in the fight.

SYNOPSIS:
Everyone fights. Stark teleports into the fight, and Iron Man unleashes an electro-magnetic pulse which temporarily disables Gregory’s technology. Thor takes the opportunity and kills Gregory. Iron Man is shocked. The fighting stops and North Korea stays communist, but it was only a diversion. Stark had also ordered a rebellion in Iran; it worked and Iran is now democratic. Iran agrees to leave the Triskelion there and have a SHIELD presence in their country. Later, Nick Fury tells Carol Danvers that Spider-Man is dead; she resigns as SHIELD director and Nick Fury gets his old job back. Black Widow is promoted to leader of the Avengers. Punisher kills a bunch of prisoners, Blade kills Deacon Frost and Spider-Man is buried.
