Hmm, I wonder if the replacement for the 'modern' Cap is going to be the 'original' Golden Age Cap of 1942.

Seems somewhat similar to what DC is doing in their JSA series. The 'original' Golden Age older Superman introduced in 1938 Action Comics #1 recently died in Infinite Crisis #7. Now the JSA has a 'new' Superman, the older version from the alternate future of Kingdom Come.

I will admit, if Marvel is bringing back Cap this way, it would be interesting. I think they did that with Captain Mar-Vell too.

New interview: http://forum.newsarama.com/showpost.php ... ostcount=1

Apparently, they have no clue about what's coming up:
NRAMA: We talked about continuity earlier, so let’s touch upon it again – what time are we talking about the Invaders arrival? Obviously, after Civil War…but is it before Secret Invasion? After? During?

AR: As far as I understand it, this co-exists with the Secret Invasion, but we’re completely unaware of any of the details of that series. Even though this project is set in Marvel continuity, it also endeavors to tell a complete tale that doesn’t demand of the reader that they go to too many other places to complete the whole drama they’re reading.

JK: Post Civil War. Post Bucky becoming Cap. Probably post Secret Invasion. I'm going to have to check on that. I don't know. It's also post Dark Phoenix Saga. Post Elektra Saga. Post Mutant Massacre. Post Birth of Franklin. (It is a time travel story. Just want to keep my facts straight).
This looks like it'll be either a trivial or hugely involved fit.

Just reviewed the Invaders/Avengers preview. Looks very interesting. Two things of note caught my attention.

A huge montage of several GA era characters. We are gonna have to identify all of them. I know a few, but many others are obscure.

There is an apparently unknown team of GA era heroes, who include Black Widow, Electro, Captain Terror, Silver Scorpion, Black Avenger and Challenger. Black Widow and Electro are currently shown in TWELVE.
