Slightly snarky highlights for this month :

NEW SERIES

- SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY #1 is a monthly reprint book for ASM.

NEW MINISERIES

- ASTONISHING X-MEN: GHOST BOXES #1 (of 2), by Ellis, Davis & Granov, has some backstory for the main title.

- WOLVERINE: MANIFEST DESTINY #1 (of 4), by Aaron & Segovia, explores Wolverine's reaction to the new SF setting, as the main series can't be bothered doing it (or actually shipping, for what it's worth).

- X-MEN: WORLD'S APART #1 (of 4), by Yost & Neves, explores Storm's conflicted loyalties (between the X-Men & Wakanda), as was obvious by the title alone.

- MARVEL ZOMBIES 3 #1 (of 4), by Van Lente & Walker, is set in main continuity. Apparently happens between the first and second series.

- GHOST RIDER: DANNY KETCH #1 (of 5), by Spurrier & Saltares. Tying in with the main book to explain what's happened to the character.

- CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE #1 (of 6) finally starts Loeb & Sale's retelling of Cap's early days. It's officially a bimonthly book, by the way.

- ENDER'S GAME: FIRST SERIES #1 (of 5), by Yost & Ferry. A retelling of the Orson Scott Card novel, of course.

- ANITA BLAKE, VAMPIRE HUNTER: THE LAUGHING CORPSE BOOK ONE #1 (of 5), by Hamilton, Ruffner and Lim, is more of the same.

ONESHOTS

- X-MEN: ORIGINAL SIN #1, by Carey, Way, Eaton & Deodato, is the start of a small crossover involving X-MEN: LEGACY (#217) and WOLVERINE: ORIGINS (#29). For some reason, last month's W:O #28 prelude was calling it "Dark Deception"...

- MONSTER-SIZE HULK #1, by Parker & "TBA", features a fight with Frankenstein's Monster.

- CAPTAIN AMERICA: THEATER OF WAR — OPERATION ZERO-POINT (the Knaufs & Breitweiser) is the first of the series of one-shots covering Cap's career. First, 1944.

- AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1 (yeah, right), by Guggenheim and McKone, promises to reveal the truth about Jackpot.

- It's Ultimate Annuals month ! (though two of them actually appeared the previous month.) On top of the expected ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #3 (Bendis & Lafuente), there's also the curious ULTIMATE CAPTAIN AMERICA ANNUAL #1 (Loeb & JRJR) and ULTIMATE HULK ANNUAL #1 (Loeb, McGuiness & Djurdjevic), despite there being no such series. Is this a hint of the post-Ultimatum reshuffle ?

- Speaking of Ultimatum, we also get a MARCH ON ULTIMATUM SAGA recap book (as well as a MARVEL SPOTLIGHT issue).

Glorified fill-in Watch :
- THOR: THE TRUTH OF HISTORY #1, by Alan Davis, has the norse gods visiting Ancient Egypt.
- GIANT-SIZE X-MEN: FIRST CLASS #1, by Parker and assorted artists

NOTABLE ISSUES

- Secret Invasion is slightly down to 15 issues this month : SI #7, SI: FRONTLINE #4, SI: INHUMANS #3, SI: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3 (the "SI: SPIDER-MAN BND" mini has been retitled), SI: THOR #3, SI: X-MEN #3, NEW AVENGERS #46, MIGHTY AVENGERS #19, AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE #18, DEADPOOL #3, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #6, NOVA #18, IRON MAN: DIRECTOR OF S.H.I.E.L.D. #34, PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #24 and THUNDERBOLTS #125.

- GHOST RIDER #28 is double-sized for some reason (yeah, it's a new storyline, but it's still random).

- Again, NEW EXILES ships twice.

GONE MISSING THIS MONTH :
- ASTONISHING X-MEN (duh)
- THOR (becoming bimonthly by now)
- WOLVERINE (for the second month running)
- BLACK PANTHER. Uh oh : the title is selling in the danger zone, so it might be cancelled...
- ULTIMATE X-MEN & ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR : they're probably cancelled due to the Ultimatum reshuffle.
- X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
- IRON MAN: VIVA LAS VEGAS, for the third month running. Why is Granov doing some fill-ins for AXM instead ?
- PATSY WALKER: HELLCAT. Again, the artist is doing an USM annual instead. What are they thinking ?
- Most of the Icon books (except CRIMINAL), as they're all running late

NOTABLE COLLECTIONS

- Marvel Masterworks : Atlas Era Journey Into Mystery v1, & X-Men v7 (collecting some of their appearances in the reprint era, including the Beast strip in AMAZING ADVENTURES)
- Essentials : Marvel Horror v2

- SECRET WARS OMNIBUS HC, including THOR #383, SHE-HULK #10, and WHAT IF? v2 #4 and #114

- Random old storylines : IRON MAN: THE DRAGON SEED SAGA TPB (IM #270-275, by Byrne) & SPIDER-MAN: A NEW GOBLIN TPB (ASM #176-180, by Wein & Andru).

- The WEAPON OMEGA strip from MCP gets a TPB.

- PUNISHER MAX: FROM FIRST TO LAST TPB collects THE TYGER, THE CELL & THE END oneshots (weren't at least some of those already collected ?)

So, what caught up your eye this time ?

Sign me up!

That is confusing. His Divided We Stand arc was in the main book, and yet the 'The End' type arc is bumping this out, which I would think would be better suited for a mini anyway. But what do I know? Marvel's making millions and I'm not.
JD wrote:- GHOST RIDER: DANNY KETCH #1 (of 5), by Spurrier & Saltares. Tying in with the main book to explain what's happened to the character.
Huh. Color me interested.

Bimonthly? Dang it.
JD wrote:- THOR: THE TRUTH OF HISTORY #1, by Alan Davis, has the norse gods visiting Ancient Egypt.
Ooh! Alan Davis!

Well, if we add the 7 issues of his Marvel Spotlight debut, plus the 81 issue Johnny Blaze series, plus the 94 issue(93 + Finale/#94) Dan Ketch series, plus the 6 issue Hammer Lane mini, plus the 6 issue Ennis mini, plus 28 issues of the current run, we get issue #222! That's kind of neat, right?

Which is one third of the Ghost Rider-relevant number of the beast?

If I could only believe that that was intentional...
