random thought about Giant-sized X-Men #1

Post by templedog1972 »

This is just a random thought about Giant-sized X-Men #1 and X-Men: Deadly Genesis. I actually enjoyed X-Men: Deadly Genesis despite it being a huge ret-con. Deadly Genesis actually answered a question that always nagged me about GSX 1, which has always been why did Prof. X recruit such a "powerhouse" team to rescue the original X-Men? Well Deadly Genesis shows that he did this because Vulcan's team was not up to the task. In essence, Prof. X was hedging his bets with the second rescue team.

And then there is an alternate Earth in What If? v2 #9 where after the third team was captured by Krakoa, Xaxier assembled a fourth team (Beast, Wolfsbane, Siryn, Thunderbird II, Namorita, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) to go against Krakoa.!!

Yeah, by that point mutant recruits were running a little thin. :) If i remember correctly the last team was composed of Beast, Wolfsbane, warpath, Namorita, and Siryn, plus xavier tried to recruit Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
