Yes, under most circumstances. We work on both series. But sometimes things change as we go along - right at the start of Nextwave, we left it out of entries, because we were awaiting confirmation of whether it was in 616 continuity or not. In this instance, it's the other way round.

My guess would be that because X:FC is still being published, they chose to leave it out for the moment until they could properly catalogue it.

...no. That's not why. It's what Loki (head writer of the Index) just said.

Hi Rider -- welcome to the forums, and interesting first post! By the way, the OFFICIAL Handbook and the OFFICIAL Index are written by the same pool of people ... just fyi... ;)

Things are definitely more fluid when dealing with a current series.

To echo all the above sentiments: amazing job everyone. There's a lot of fantastic info there.

For those involved, do you have any idea about this?

Jeph, Loki, Comixfan...

Nice job, guys. The book is packed with great info; a lot of content per page. The synopses are the right length; the character chronologies are much appreciated and fairly easy to follow. A great resource for any Marvel fan. Keep up the good work. I hope to see many of these in the future. (And maybe a nod to the MCP sometime... )

Would it be possible to look at Peter Parker: Spider-Man Annual 2001 and include a mention of it in a future issue? I would love to see where the experts would place it. Thanks again to you and everyone else working on the indices for all the hard work.

First, a bit of backround...

been reading comics for over 40 yrs and been mostly a DC reader but always interested in Marvel. Long runs of Avengers/Defenders/XMen and such over the years. Love indexing and have done a lot of work on DC stuff (mostly Golden Age, but a full out Chronology for those characters and Whos Who entries) and have also done some work on Marvel Indices, buying them from the beginning of George O's work.

Hven't bought a regular Marvel Title in years, but will get the Index series (and Agents of Atlas and Twelve when ever they come out) and enjoying it greatly.

Keep up the teriffic work everybody!

Onward and Upwards!

(oh... and wish DC would do something like this... but in the meantime, read my stuff at the Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe!)

Peter Parker: Spider-Man Annual 2001 happens during a summer break in Peter's high school; he uses his summer vacation to do fieldwork in Perú (which is so neat since I was born there), to then try to skip out of basic chem, so he can do bio-chem a year early. From that we gather that he still has 2 more years in high school, so, this is the summer between his sophomore and junior years in high school (he gained his powers as a sophomore). Amazing Fantasy 16-18 happen shortly after the conclusion of Amazing Fantasy 15 and he's still in school and getting used to his spider-sense in those isssues. In PPSM@ '01 he seems used to it. According to George Olchevski's notes he appears in ASM 1 as a junior high school student already. So, placement for this annual should be like this:

AAF 16
AAF 17
AAF 18
WOSM 81-FB
TW 2-FB
PPSM@ '01
ASM 1

On a side note I just realized reading this annual that the first girl Peter ever kisses might just be from Perú. :yepp: Then again, maybe not if we count Spider-Man: With Great Power as canon.

Good call, Antonio. This should indeed be added to the MCP, and listed in an errata note for the Official Index.

Speaking of errors, I noticed that the MCP lists a flashback in issue 38 of Amazing Spider-Man between issues 5 and 6 of that title, here:

ASM 5
XF 139-FB
ASM 38-FB
ST@ 2
ASM 6

I've never been able to find any flashback in that issue. Funny thing is the new index lists the flashback happenning in ASM 38, '02 (volume 2) where there's no flashback fitting on that spot either.

The reference is to a flashback on page 11, panel 7 of (adjectiveless) SPIDER-MAN #38 (9/1993), featuring Spidey and Charlie Buchanan.

There you go, then both sources need to make the necessary adjustments.

Just picked up the second issue and think a couple more things are missing.

Wasn't there some issues of the X-Men Unlimited (I think, v2) series that contained stories of the original X-Men. One with Jean handing out the new uniforms and one where Cyclops takes the newly transformed Beast to visit his parents.

Keep up the good work guys.

*I just looked it up X-Men Unlimited v1 no.42/3 (Uniform story)
X-Men Unlimited v2 no.10/2 (Beast/Cyclops story)
