Coming from Marvel in June

Post by JD »

Full solicitations at Newsarama, as usual : http://www.newsarama.com/comics/090324- ... tions.html

Or you could go directly to the Marvel website : http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?date=2009-06

NEW SERIES

- X-MEN FOREVER #1 & 2, by Claremont and Pelletier. The high concept : it starts after X-MEN v2 #3, and completely diverges from this point on.

NEW MINISERIES

- DARK REIGN: THE SINISTER SPIDER-MAN #1 (of 4), by Reed and Kitson, features the MacGargan Venom posing as Spider-Man in Dark Avengers.

- DARK REIGN: LETHAL LEGION #1 (of 3), by Tieri and Santolouco, follows a team of D-List villains rebelling against the Dark Reign.
- DARK REIGN: MISTER NEGATIVE #1 (of 3), by Van Lante and Gigliotta, follows the new Spider-Man villain's struggle against the Hood.
- DARK REIGN: ZODIAC #1 (of 3), by Casey and Fox, features a new villain spreading chaos inside the Dark Reign new order.
Er, isn't there a bit of overlap between some of those ?

- BETA RAY BILL: GODHUNTER #1 (of 3), by Gillen and Kano, with Galactus as the antagonist.

ONESHOTS

- DARK AVENGERS/UNCANNY X-MEN: UTOPIA, by Fraction and Silvestri, is the start of a crossover between those two titles.

- WAR OF KINGS: SAVAGE WORLD OF SKAAR, by Gage and Henry

- WOLVERINE: REVOLVER #1, by Gischler and Pastoras, is this month's random Wolverine one-shot.

- X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT #1, by Carey and Yardin. He's in that movie, you see...

- PUNISHER: FRANK CASTLE - NAKED KILL #1, by Maberry and Campbell : couldn't they just put this in the regular series ?

- UNCANNY X-MEN: FIRST CLASS GIANT-SIZE SPECIAL #1, by various.

- MISS AMERICA COMICS #1 70TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, by Van Meter and MacDonald
- YOUNG ALLIES COMICS #1 70TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, by Stern and Rivera

- 1939 DAILY BUGLE. Uh ? Part of the 70th anniversary celebration, I presume. And free !

- MARVEL APES: PRIME EIGHT SPECIAL, by Kesel and Nauck, is a spoof of the Illuminati. Isn't this joke dead yet ?

- TIMESTORM 2009/2099: SPIDER-MAN
- TIMESTORM 2009/2099: X-MEN

- MARVEL PETS HANDBOOK

Glorified fill-in watch :
- ENDER'S GAME: RECRUITING VALENTINE
- FANTASTIC FOUR GIANT-SIZE ADVENTURES #1, by Tobin and various artists, takes MARVEL ADVENTURES: FF's place on the schedule.
- THOR: THE TRIAL OF THOR, by Milligan and Nord

NOTABLE ISSUES

- War of Kings continues in WOK #4, WOK:ASCENSION #3, WOK:SAVAGE WORLD OF SKAAR, NOVA #26 and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #15.

- Messiah War continues in CABLE #15 and X-FORCE #16.

- WOLVERINE becomes DARK WOLVERINE with #75, and now stars Wolverine's son Daken. New creative team : Way, Liu & Camuncoli.

- CAPTAIN AMERICA is renumbered to issue #600, with tons of bonus material.

- CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI13 gets its first annual (but there's also a regular issue).

- FANTASTIC FOUR #568, Millar's penultimate issue, is co-written by Ahearne (FANTASTIC FORCE). Uh-oh...

- IMMORTAL IRON FIST concludes with issue #27.

- SQUADRON SUPREME also concludes, with issue #12. Sales were horrible, and presumably they will need Fury back in the Ultimate Universe. Speaking of which, absolutely no Ultimate will ship in June (though ULTIMATUM #5 has already been pushed back to July).

- RUNAWAYS is taken over with #11 by Kathryn Immonen and Sara Pichelli. Good choice, actually.

- ASTONISHING X-MEN #30 allegedly ships.

- Both UNCANNY X-MEN and X-FACTOR ship twice.

- X-MEN: LEGACY #225 will be the last issue with this subtitle of this title as a Professor X solo book.

GONE MISSING THIS MONTH :
- HULK
- THOR
- MOON KNIGHT may have been silently cancelled, since last issue finished a storyline and sales weren't great.
- GHOST RIDER (ditto)
- MARVEL ADVENTURES: FANTASTIC FOUR (uh oh)
- MARVELS: EYE OF THE CAMERA (for the second month running)
- all ICON books

In 1994/1995 by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning, believe it or not.

- IMMORTAL IRON FIST concludes with issue #27.
Nope, that was a typo. The series is NOT cancelled.
X-MEN: LEGACY #225 will be the last issue with this subtitle.
Is that true? I thought they were just wrapping up their focus on Xavier, and moving to a new character. Where did you hear that it's dropping the "Legacy" name?

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #27
Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI
Penciled by TRAVEL FOREMAN
Cover by KAARE ANDREWS
70th Anniversary Variant Cover by MARKO DJURDJEVIC
Danny Rand is the Immortal Iron Fist. He has thwarted Hydra assassins...foiled a vicious plot to destroy his mystical city of K’un-Lun...fought in an interdimensional kung fu tournament...escaped the unstoppable beast that killed all other Iron Fists before him...and survived a trip into Hell itself. But will he make it through the fall of the House of Rand? Don’t miss this landmark FINAL ISSUE of the critically acclaimed, fan-beloved IMMORTAL IRON FIST.
40 PGS./Rated T+ ...$3.99
Some typo. A typo is when you type "Teh" instead of "The" and miss it, not a whole sentence...

If it's not for real, that's a MAJOR miscommunication with the marketing dept...

Whatever you want to call it, the information is incorrect. And you'll notice that it's been revised on ALL THREE SITES that JD linked to above...

Good news. But they should really put a press release or something, since I doubt many people have noticed the correction.

That was my understanding from various past interviews, but I may be mistaken. In that case, I'd stand corrected.
(And I thought it would become more of a team book.)

And while we're doing errata : FANTASTIC FORCE has been downgraded to a 5-issue mini (http://previewsworld.com/public/default ... 0&ai=65340). This makes a lot more sense than the original solicitations as an ongoing.

Well, the original incorrect solicit only appeared in various "previews" on places like Newsarama, on Monday. When the full solicits went live on Tuesday, it had been corrected ... so I'm not sure how many people would have even SEEN it.

Nonetheless, it's probably a good idea to squelch the rumor -- as even just *talking* about the cancellation of a low-selling book tends to affect its sales, sometimes so badly that it might MAKE the rumor come true...
