Hellcat - solo stories?

Post by JephYork »

I'm trying to find a nice standalone, solo Hellcat story, from pre-1990. Do any exist? It can be a single issue, a back-up or a short arc. Bonus points if it recaps her origin...

Ahhhhh---HAAAAHHH!!

So, Hellcat is going to be the subject of the next set of Indexes. I KNEW it!

Hell of a short Index THAT'LL be.

No, it's for something else ... right now I see solo Hellcat stories in Solo Avengers #9, Marvel Comics Presents #36 and Marvel Super-Heroes v3 #1, and a co-starring role with Damian Hellstrom in Marvel Fanfare #59. Do any of these recap her origin? Are any of these any good at all? Are there others I've missed?

I remember the story from Marvel Fanfare #59! It re-introduces many of the characters from the Patsy Walker comics (or rather, it introduces their real-life-on-Earth-616 counterparts, since the Patsy Walker comics were fictional comics based on "real" people), and it's done in the style of a Simon & Kirby romance comic (with Richard Howell art)! i don't remember how much of Hellcat's origin it recaps, but it does deal with the whole Patsy Walker Comics thing, and the Patsy/Damian marriage.

Depends on whether or not the Patsy Walker/Patsy & Hedy comics were included.

There's also a Patsy Walker/Hellcat story in What The--?! #7.

Solo Avengers #9 titled “Memoirs” recaps Hellcat’s life up through the 80’s and there’s probably more information here on her first marriage to Buzz (Mad-Dog) Baxter than anywhere else, but I’m not sure I’d call it an origin issue.

There is the Avengers 2000 Annual which brings her back and goes into her past a bit. Also the Hellcat 3 part mini-series which came out a bit later in 2000. She returns to her home town and we get a bit more info on her childhood where we find out that she was actually a child actress and the comics were based on the tv series based on her life.
