Does anyone own a complete run of "X-Men Classic"?

Post by JephYork »

I need to know who the reprint editors for #45-110 were, for the Index. ComicbookDB and the Unofficial Handbook of Marvel Comics Creators are no help, so I guess I'll have to check the original issues.

Does anybody have 'em, that can help me out?

Just a speculation (I remember flipping through some issues in that span), but I think the issues after #44 didn't have an editor per se, since they were bare-bones reprints of the UX issues, rather than the previous issues that had "deleted scene" pages and backups. So the credited editor would be the guy (or in this case, gals) who edited the originals.

CX 45-86 (UX 139-182): Louise Jones
CX 87 (UX 183): Louise Jones & Ann Nocenti
CX 88-110 (UX 184-206): Ann Nocenti

Well, the GCD lists "Editing: Ann Nocenti (Original); Jaye Gardner" for XC 110 (although that's the only issue I can see there that lists a separate credit, implicitly for the reprint). I don't have any of the issues to check though.

XC #87, the only issue I own, has a small box at the bottom of the splash page that says:

"Originally printed in Uncanny X-Men #183 - reprint editor, Kelly Corvese".

So, Chris -- yes, they did have reprint editors. :)

Thanks, Somebody ... well, two down, 64 to go...

EDIT: apparently, sometimes you can also find the Reprint Editor credit on the letters page.

The GCD also lists Jaye Gardner as editor for #99 -- and I got information on some other issues from some acquaintances at another board. Combining everything, I've got this so far:

45 – Bob Harras
46 – (no credit)
47 – Bob Harras
52 through 70 – Suzanne Gaffney
71 – Kelly Corvese
72 – Kelly Corvese
87 – Kelly Corvese
90 – Kelly Corvese
95 – Jaye Gardner
99 – Jaye Gardner
102 – Jaye Gardner
103 – Jaye Gardner
104 – Jaye Gardner
105 – Jaye Gardner
109 – (no credit)
110 – Jaye Gardner

I'm seeing some obvious patterns emerging here. Can anyone help fill in the blanks?
