Brief synopsis: On the run, Kathy, Anastasia and Boyd battle the Medusa Web in San Diego. Stasi accidentally causes the death of Relampago by tripping her with a light cord. Stasi's fingers are severed in the act and passes out after spending all her energy healing them back on. Kathy is taken out by Potiphar who shoots her in the back. Boyd surrenders when confronted by dozens of armed police. Over the objections of Babel, the trio is taken into C.I.A. custody by agents working for the Skipper. Tyrone flies over the remains of Pittsburgh. Unknown to him, he is recorded by U.S. spy technology.
References: As noted on page 1, pages 1 through 26 take place on January 2, 1988. As noted on page 27:1, page 27 takes place on January 5, 1988.
Note: On page 25:6 it is revealed that Colby Shaw was the ex-wife of the Skipper and she died in the destruction of Sanctuary.

First Story

Brief synopsis: In Victoria, British Columbia, Wayne lets Lindsey touch his earring, and she sees how he escaped Sanctuary, and that Kathy, Anastasia and Boyd have survived. Tyrone confronts Imprint, Backfire and Donner Kopf of the Medusa Web and learns that Kathy, Stasi and Boyd are alive. They offer to help rescue them if the teens join the Medusa Web. Later, Tyrone visits Andrew Chaser for information on the Medusa Web and also learns that Boyd has been drafted and the other two are in Bethesda Naval Hospital. He then stops at the hospital and, upon temporarily entering his body, finds that he can't move his legs.

Flashback (8:6-9:6)
Appearances: Wayne Tucker; Kathy Ling
Brief synopsis: Wayne feels Rodstvow's attack coming and takes control of Kathy to make her throw him from Sanctuary with her powers. Wayne is badly injured when he hits the ground hard and blacks out.
References: Takes place immediately during and after the destruction of Sanctuary by Rodstvow.

Flashback (11:1-13:2)
Appearances: Kathy Ling; Tyrone Jessup; Stasi Inyushin; Thomas Boyd; Rodstvow (villain)
Brief synopsis: Kathy tries to lift herself and Tyrone out of the building before Rodstvow destroys it, but Tyrone is caught on the window as the entire building blows up. Boyd runs into the flames and returns with Kathy, who are both healed by Anastasia. Uncertain of where Wayne is, and thinking Tyrone dead, they run from Rodstvow.
References: Takes place immediately after previous flashback.

Second Story

Appearances: Spitfire [Jacob "Jake" Travest] (introduction as Spitfire); Anne Pollicino; Edmund Roth; Col. MacIntyre Browning
Brief synopsis: Project: Spitfire and the military locate and retrieve the M.A.X. armor. After it is repaired, Jake Travest is named the new Spitfire over Colonel Browning's objections.
References: As noted on page 1, pages 1 through 4:1 take place on January 20, 1988. As noted on page 3:7, it took Codename Spitfire 8 days to find the M.A.X. armor. As noted on page 4:2, pages 4:2 through 4:4 take place 4 days later [January 24, 1988]. As noted on page 4:5, pages 4:5 through 6 take place 7 days later [January 31, 1988].

Flashback (3:6)
Appearances: Jenny Swensen
Brief synopsis: Jenny is place under military arrest.
References: Takes place a week after Swensen abandons the M.A.X. armor.

Brief synopsis: The new Spitfire, Jake Travest, attacks Wayne and Lindsey in their hotel room. Lindsey manages to escape, but Travest takes Wayne hostage. Medusa Web agents arrive to aid Lindsey and they attempt to save Wayne. As the group does battle against Spitfire, Wayne manages to use his power to push past the armor's defenses and stop Travest. Tyrone arrives and, using his new-found powers, tears the armor apart magnetically. Wayne pushes Travest to turn himself over to the authorities.
