She also learned that Deadweight was hired by Irene Dobish because she was angered that she had been taken of the agency's paranormal force and relocated to South America.

Brief synopsis: While Jenny helps Stephanie and her children bring a Christmas tree back to their apartment, they are attacked by muggers. They are able to defeat the muggers with the help of the paranormal “superhero”, Captain Manhattan, who was passing by. The next evening, the group are at Rockefeller Plaza when a paranormal gang, Para-Troop (Acid Queen, Aqualung, Helter Skelter, Purple Haze, Space Oddity, Wooly Bully, Wipeout, & Wild Thing) attempt to steal the Plaza's Christmas tree in order to attract Captain Manhattan's attention. Jenny (first as Chrome), Dave (as Mastodon) and Randy (as Antibody) aid Captain Manhattan in stopping the villains. Dave offers to drive Stephanie back home to Sheboygan.

Brief synopsis: Stephanie Harrington, Dave Landers and Jenny Swensen battle the paranormal muggers Pinhead and Spotty. They are unable to defeat Spotty until the current wielder of the Star Brand, Jacob Burnley, appears and reveals that Spotty has been casting an illusion to trick them. Returning to the paranormals' apartment, Burnley is told of President Voigt's insidious intentions. Burnley visits Voigt at the White House and strips him of his powers. Burnley is killed in the battle, but returns alive three days later.

Second story

Brief synopsis: The paranormal dream killer pulls Justice into his mind. The killer toys with Justice then casts him out when he proves himself immune to Justice's powers. Keith Remsen contacts the madman's doctors that he is likely the one who has killed hundreds of people in their sleep. The doctor's await Remsen's arrival to verify his theory and decide to lobotomize the madman if it turns out to be true.
References: Page 1 through 5 take place in John Tensen's dreams some time after SBRAND 16/2. Page 6 takes place immediately after page 5.

Brief synopsis: Now an adult, the Star Child comes to realize that Ken Connell, the Old Man and he are all one entity, and that the Star Brand had created itself during the White Event. He removes all traces of the Star Brand from Jacob Burnley and Roger Price, and then merges with Connell and the Old Man to place the merged entity into a never-ending time loop in order to prevent a chaotic disruption of the space/time continuum. However, unknown to the Star Child Burnley had previously given the Star Brand to American fighter pilot, Lt. Bobby Hanrahan, in order to save the pilot's life after his jet crashes.

Flashback (20:2-20:4)
Appearances: the Old Man
Brief synopsis: On July 22, 1986, the Old Man attaches the Star Brand to an asteroid which explodes as the "White Event" leaving him with 10 percent of the original, infinite power. Unknown to him, the power of that explosion shatters the barriers of time and space and strikes the Old Man himself 500 years in the past.
References: Pages 20:2 and 20:3 take place on July 22, 1986. Page 20:4 takes place 500 years previously.

Back in D.C., Justice is told of the missing agents and leaves for New York to rescue them. Angie, having recovered completely, joins him on his flight.

Justice arrives in Coney Island and, after killing Judge Mental and Seraph, saves Chauncy, Rudy and Miriam. Justice, along with Angela and Victor, decide to stay at Coney Island. As Justice Tensen, he is the new leader of the Forsaken.

Brief synopsis: Dave drives Stephanie and her family back to Sheboygan. On the way back to New York, he meets up with Michael Crawley who tells him that he recently escaped a paranormal religious cult, the White Eventists, who are still holding Scuzz. Dave attempts to rescue Scuzz, but the group's leader tells Scuzz to go willingly back to New York with them. Back in New York Scuzz appears completely happy with his newfound faith. Dave allows Scuzz to join a local chapter of the White Eventists and Michael becomes furious that he has now become separated form his last friend. Dave offers him a place with the group, but Michael angrily storms off. Finally giving up on Stephanie, Dave gets together with Merriam.

Brief synopsis: The Cure, a paranormal who is able to remove the paranormal abilities of others, arrives in New York. Stephanie returns from Sheboygan and Dave is forced to choose between Merriam and her. After he chooses Stephanie, Merriam leaves for good. While Dave and Randy keep their powers, Merriam and Mutator have their powers removed by The Cure. Jenny decides to have her powers removed although it will likely end her relationship with Captain Manhattan. Before this happens, Scuzz attempts to harm The Cure, but, during the struggle, The Cure is able to remove Scuzz's powers.

Brief synopsis: Boyd has taken to wearing an eyepatch due to injuries he suffered when Rodstvow burned him. The group is again offered a place in the Medusa Web, and they finally accept. Kathy decides to leave the group to get away from all the violence. Babel has the remaining members engage in a training session against Potiphar, who is armed with a paint gun. When Potiphar's paint gun runs out, he switches to live ammo, but Lindsey is able to best him and threatens him with his own gun as revenge for Sillatochca's death and to teach him a lesson about the value of life.

Brief synopsis: The group parachutes into Afghanistan to destroy a Soviet base that is sending supplies to Iran. In the course of the assignment, they meet Sedara Bakut, a paranormal Mujahedin. Tucker learns that a traitor in the Mujahedin is Sedara's own father, whom she then kills. In the aftermath, Wayne proposes to Lindsey and she accepts. Sedara joins the team and teleports them to Switzerland for vacation, using Lindsey's powers to find the country.
