Our Fantastic Four Annual #24 listings are a little wonky.
Most of the 1991 Annuals (but not all) had an origin retelling of the title character as the first story (and once or twice as the second story), and the ”main” stories were almost all (possibly all) crossover stories (Korvac Quest, Subterranean Wars, Vibranium Vendetta, Von Strucker Gambit).
Here’s what’s in Fantastic Four Annual #24 (1991):
First story: “The Origin of the Fantastic Four” (the origin retelling)
Second story: “Future: Tense (The Korvac Quest pt. 1) (the crossover)
Third story: “Ashes to Ashes” (a Volcana/Molecule Man story)
Fourth story: “A Matter of Honor” (a Super Skrull story)
In the second story, there’s a recap/expansion of the Korvac Saga story from Avengers #167-177, but currently only Michael Korvac has a flashback in his chronology for this. Here’s a quick breakdown:
FF@ 24/2 (1)-FB
-recap of A 175-FB
FF@ 24/2 (2)-FB
-recap of A 177 (4-9)
FF@ 24/2 (3)-FB
-recap of A 177 (12-13)
FF@ 24/2 (4-5)-FB-FB
-Galactus returns home and discovers Korvac broke in and stole some of his power (it happened in A 175-FB!). He grabs the Ultimate Nullifier and fires it at Korvac to erase him from existence. Elsewhen, the Time Variance Authority notices that Galactus used the Nullifier and complains that this means more paperwork and overtime for them to fix things (before A 177 (11)).
FF@ 24/2 (6)-FB-FB
-Korvac notices that he’s being nullified from existence, gives Thor a subliminal impulse to attack Carina and kills himself (between A 177 (11-12)).
FF@ 24/2 (7:1)-FB
-As Korvac dies, he sends out a cosmic gene packet that will empower his ancestors through time until it gets back to him when he’s born in the future (between A 177 (12-13)).
FF@ 24/2 (7:2-7:3)-FB
-recap of A 177 (14-15)
FF@ 24/2 (7:4)-FB
-The Time Variance Authority sees that Korvac didn’t get nullified from existence (because he killed himself before he could get nullified) and rejoices that they don’t have to fill out extra paperwork.
FF@ 24/2 (8-25)
-The Korvac Quest crossover starts.
Also, Korvac’s not –BTS in these Annuals; he’s actually possessing his ancestors and we see his thoughts.
Also, when Gateway sends Mr. Fantastic back in time to the events of A 177, Cap makes an appearance that’s not currently in his chronology (and Korvac is –BTS, he knocked Cap out a window).
Korvac’s ancestor in FF@ 24/2 is Jaboa Murphy, not Joboa as we currently have it. Another Korvac ancestor appears in T@ 16/2, Varley, and another in SS@ 4, Marshach (along with a future Silver Surfer, who is wearing Quasar's Quantum Bands; this Silver Surfer is the Keeper of the GotG future; Firelord will later wear the same Quantum Bands).
So, we have to add these flashbacks in for some Avengers characters and fix them for Korvac and adjust which story characters appear in (change FF@ 24 to FF@ 24/2, change FF@ 24/2 to FF@ 24/3, etc).
Here we go!

Re: Fantastic Four Annual #24 (1991)
Now that sounds like a cool storyline! I really liked the original Korvac saga (A 167-168, 170-177), so I should probably pick up these back issues (or wait for a collected edition, maybe). One question, though. In What If # 32 ("What if the Avengers had become pawns of Korvac?"), the use of the Nullifier in an alternate universe causes the destruction of the user (personally, I thought this was lame). Why wasn't Galactus self-nullified when he blasted Korvac? Could it be that the rules of that alternate universe don't apply in 616? (this would be my preference).

Re: Fantastic Four Annual #24 (1991)
Although What If? #32 established that using the Ultimate Nullifier killed both target and wielder, later stories revealed that people whose will power is strong enough CAN wield the Ultimate Nullifier without being nullified themselves. However, if they lose focus for even an instant, then they are nullified as well.intp wrote:One question, though. Thanks to both midnighter and Don for the info. I like the explanation. It never made sense to me that Galactus would keep a weapon that he couldn't use without destroying himself in the process.
