A 300

Post by Chris McCarver »

The members of the short-lived A 300 Avengers roster (Captain America, the Forgotten One, Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, and Thor) all have their appearances in A 300 bisected by a flashback in A 306, which is a two-panel condensing of the climactic battle between the Avengers and a horde of demons (plus their inadvertent killing of the Lava Men's god, Cha'sa'dra) in A 300, the second panel of which is a redraw of A 300 (32:2). There doesn't appear to be any sort of new information apart from identifying one of the demons as Cha'sa'dra in this flashback. Could this be an RFB, and if so, should we take out the flashback and the resultant split in A 300?

It sounds like there is new information in this flashback, even if it's minimal.

According to the recent Avengers Index, Cha'sa'dra is worshipped as the Lava Men's god. The Index entry for A 306 says he's -BTS in A 300 (present but unseen), appears in A 306-FB before that and dies in A 306-FB after that. Are these Cha'sa'dra's only appearances?

It also looks like we need a chronology for Cha'sa'dra.

Seems to be that these are his only appearances, yes.

A 306-FB (17:4) - (Jinku, the Lava Men's witch doctor, narrates this) The Gortokians, the subterranean race that would become the Lava Men, worship Cha'sa'dra as a god (seen here as a large statue).
--(18:1) - Cha'sa'dra appears before his worshippers.
--(18:2) - Cha'sa'dra offers the Gortokians immortality.
--(18:3) - Cha'sa'dra transforms the Gortokians into the Lava Men.
--(18:4) - Though the Gortokian civilization is reduced to barbarism, the Lava Men remain faithful to their living god who personally rules them until he departs without giving a reason for his leaving.
--(19:1) - N'astirh assembles all of the nether regions' lords for concerted attack on the surface world (Inferno). (Cha'sa'dra isn't seen here)
--(19:2) - Cha'sa'dra is made a leader in N'astirh's army and leads a demonic army against the humans of New York.
--(19:3) - Cap, Thor, the Forgotten One, and Mr. Fantastic beat up Cha'sa'dra's horde. (Cha'sa'dra isn't seen here. I think this should be placed after A 300 [32:1], since that panel shows Mr. Fantastic sweeping the last of the demons towards Thor and Gilgamesh, and A 306 shows him in the same pose as that panel)
--(19:4) - Cap, Thor, and the Forgotten One watch as Cha'sa'dra (specifically seen here) and his minions disintegrate into dust (this is the panel that appears to copy the one from A 300, which I think could immediately precede A 300 [32:2] due to the similarity of the two panels).

So Cap, Mr. Fantastic, Thor, and the Forgotten One's chronologies should read:

[...]
A 300 (1 - 32:1)
A 306-FB (19:3 - 19:4)
A 300 (32:2 - 40)
[...]

While the Invisible Woman's should read the same except that her appearance in the A 306 flashback should be listed as BTS (as it presently is now).

As for Cha'sa'dra:

CHA'SA'DRA
A 306-FB (18:1 - 19:2)
A 300-BTS
A 306-FB (19:3 - 19:4)
