While ‘liberating’ the Star Stone, Thongor is captured and sent to the arena. He and fellow prisoner Karm Karvus defeat the reptilian arena creatures, saving a nubile bound sacrifice. Story 2: The Eyes of Mala-tor

Told in FB: A young man in search of diamonds is given a small statue by some African tribesmen he helped. The statue, called Mala-tor, is to watch over and protect him. It also contains enough diamonds to make him wealthy.

The man is burglarized. He pleads with the robber to not take the statue, offers everything else. The thief assumes the statue is worth more than anything else and takes off with just that. Hearing sirens, he buries the statue by a tree for later retrieval. When he returns, the tree grabs him and holds him until the police and owner arrive. They note the tree is now shaped like the statue. Crook tells owner where to dig “I don’t want it. It’s poison”.

COTL 27

Story 1:
The Archdruid Yelim Pelorvis orders the arena crowd to slay Thongor . Thongor and Karm Karvus defend Kora and fend off a thousand swords. When the attackers let up for a moment to regroup, darkness falls on the arena and a rope descends from above. They climb the rope to find Sharajsha in the airship. The group departs for Patanga where the Star Stone must be dipped in the eternal fires below the alter of Yamatu. They drop Kora off at her village while en route. Having studied the temple plans, Sharajsha accompanies Thongor, leaving Karm Karvus in the ship. Thongor stands guard while Sharajsha forges the sword. A priest accompanied by a dozen guards discovers Thongor and in the ensuing fight, all the guards are slain but the priest has run off, only to return with 100 armed men who are ordered to disarm Thongor and capture him alive. Eventually Thongor is subdued and just as the priest is about to sacrifice Thongor, the guards and the priest flee in terror from the demons that have materialized behind Thongor. COTL 28

Story 1:
Thongor wakes from his drugging to find himself about to be chained in the dungeon along with Sharajsha. He feebly attempts resistance but is knocked out. He awakens to a vision of beauty…the queen of Patanga, Sumia Chond, is chained beside him. In flashback, she tells the story of Ptol’s usurpation of her father’s throne and her refusal to wed him. After being taken to the sacrifice chamber, Thongor breaks free. Sumia frees Sharajsha, who uses his sorcery to assist Thongor. After a short skirmish, Karm Karvus descends in the airboat and the three climb aboard and escape the awestruck Patangans. Having nowhere else to go, Sumia decides to join the group as they journey to their next stop…Sharimba, the mountain of thunder, where the star sword must be bathed in the holy lightning to attain its true mystic power. At Sharimba, Sharajsha proceeds on his own, as the mystic forces involved would destroy anyone not versed in sorcery. Shortly after, the remaining three are attacked by Lemurian lizard-hawks. Thongor sends Sumia and Karm Karvus to the airboat while he fends off the attackers. They fly off in the ship. Thongor is then knocked off the mountain edge, but caught by the talons of a lizard-hawk and carried off…

Last Panel.. the planetary bodies themselves gain facial expressions and respond ‘because that is the way we want it’.

COTL 29

Story 1:
Thongor regains consciousness, still gripped in the lizard-hawk’s grasp. By the sun he realizes it is many hours since he was taken. He is dropped into a nest as food for hatchlings. Scavenging weapons from the remains of previous ‘meals’, Thongor kills the young lizard-hawks and then begins to descend the 500 ft rock tower. Meanwhile, Sharajsha rejoins Karm Karvus and Sumia. The mission was successful – the star sword is ready. They depart in the ship to the Dragon Isles.
They attempt a covert entry to the castle of the dragon kings, but are quickly and easily captured. Thongor by this time, after three hours of descent, espies a river far beneath him and dives in. He recognizes that the river flows towards the sea where the dragon kings live and follows it. He is chased into a cave by a dinosaur-like creature and having no alternative, follows its subterranean tunnel. Eventually he emerges within site of the Dragon Kings’ castle. He swims out to the isle and finds the Star Sword that Sharajsha dropped when he was captured. The three prisoners have been manacled to a sacrificial alter when Thongor finds them. He strikes out, stopping the ceremony and uses blasts from the Star Sword to free them. They slay the dragon kings and depart for friendlier surroundings.
